Sudden toddler regression

Hi all! I'm 7 months pregnant with my second and suddenly my 23 month old dc wants to be picked up all the time, especially up and down the stairs. As I have painful spd and pelvic pain, I have been advised not to carry him at this stage. I'm not sure what to do though as sometimes he just won't come down the stairs on his own (under supervision of course). How do I cope with this? I don't want him to feel like I'm pushing him away by telling him mummy can't carry you. I've tried many things to incentivise him already. Strangely enough, he's even started crawling occasionally again!

Regression is totally normal so don't worry about that aspect, it will get better.

I haven't had SPS so this might be an atrocious suggestion but could you make it into a game by both going downstairs on your bottoms?

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto I actually try to play that game with him and it used to work however doesn't anymore. Not sure what to do at this stage!
