Hi,

Has anyone on here conceived whilst on anti-malarials? Is it something to be worried about? Very conflicting information out there!!

Which ones are you taking? Malarone is safe in pregnancy. Doxycycline should be avoided in pregnancy/breastfeeding as can affect babies teeth and bones but wouldn't be a problem in the first trimester let alone as early as conception so don't worry!

Hi,

aw thanks for the reply! That's really reassuring thank you 😊
It's doxycycline...read a lot of different info...was getting very confused. Seems to be a lot of "we can't do proper studies so we have to say there's a chance of problems etc" but it's good to hear it's safe in first trimester!!

Yeah pretty much every medication will say that because they don't do studies in pregnant women unless it's a medication that's specifically for pregnancy! But based on the fact it affects teeth/bones and babies don't start developing bones until around week 10, it shouldn't be a problem before then.
