Embryo stopped developing at 6wks with subchorionic hematoma

Hi everyone.

After finally achieving a positive pregnancy test after 10 failed rounds of ICSI over 4 years and then opting for an overseas donor egg, i’ve just had a scan which has confirmed the PGT-A tested AA grade embryo stopped developing at 6wks. I’ll need a surgical op next week to remove it. I also have a subchorionic hematoma which grew from 28x23mm to 30x40mm.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
My partner’s sister is finding out the gender of her baby today.
I’m understandably feeling so incredibly low. I just wondered if anyone else has found out why their chromosomally normal
embryo died.

much love
Gem

I should add that there was a heartbeat at 6+1 but 2wks later it measured at 6+3 & the heartbeat had stopped

So sorry to hear that... and hope you can pull through this difficult period and have a successful pregnancy in future.

Did they say what was the heart rate at 6+1? Sometimes if the heart rate was not within the normal range it indicates a problem.

Unfortunately not all top grade genetically normal embryos can implant and develop successfully. It depends on the uterus condition (e.g. how thick the endometrium is) and your body's hormone levels (I remember my provider was quite strict about my E2 levels) as well. The subchorionic haematoma could also be a factor if its location interfered with the sac. I had a larger one with some bleeding at 8w though and it didn't cause any issue.

I would definitely be asking your IVF provider all of these questions so that next round you can be better prepared.

Good luck!

Hi Katerose2022, this is all really helpful x i will contact the place i went for my scan
& ask what the heart rate was. I’m hoping my clinic can shed some light on it.
The only tests they asked of me was my progesterone, HCG & oestradiol.
Thank you very much for replying. Zx
