Pregnant in my right uterus! Uterine Didelphys Pregnancies

I am 11w+2d pregnant with my first baby, aged 36. Double cervix and uterus was confirmed when I was younger. For the past few years I had been seeing a gynaecologist about awful menstrual cramps. I had an MRI earlier this year that showed nothing unusual, just confirmed my uterus didelphys. So I had a biopsy to rule out anything sinister. Note - this involved the doctor going up BOTH cervix 😮😖

The following month - I got pregnant! Total surprise and spent the first week in a bit of denial and panic. I’ve had three scans since testing positive, one NHS and two private. All looking well so far and just trying to stay positive. Waiting for results of my harmony NIPT test.

There is so much limited information, I’ve read most medical journals I can find of didelphys pregnancy cases. Would love to connect with anyone with the same condition. As I couldn’t find anything on this forum, hoping this also helps anyone else in future in the same boat.

Hi @redxlondon just seeing your post now as yesterday I was diagnosed with a double uterus after having an ultrasound (which sadly showed a miscarriage 😔)

I've always had terrible periods and have known something wasn't right for a long time as I have 2 openings to my vagina. I went to my GP when I was a teenager but they just said it was an extra bit of skin, but now it all makes sense. I have a telephone appointment with a consultant on Thursday so I've got loads of questions to ask him.

How is your pregnancy progressing? I've had two miscarriages now and I'm worried these are because of my double uterus. As you say there is such limited information online so it would be great to connect with others!

Hi there, I’m so sorry about your miscarriages. I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant and, fingers crossed it continues, all is progressing well. From what I understand, it’s unlikely the didelphys would be responsible for an early miscarriage. So it would be good for you to see both an obstetrician (to assess anything impacting fertility) and gynecologist (to assess your uterus and overall health). I had very confusing and mixed diagnosis from several gynecologist. I decided to try a new one in January, and he said the only way to conclusively assess didelphys was an MRI, so push for this if you can to see what’s going on. There aren’t many of us around, so I’ve found a Facebook group incredibly helpful: “uterine didelphys support group”. I’m always here too if I can offer support in any way!
