I’ve not had number 2 yet but bookmarking to follow along as I’d like a smallish age gap between mine!

Toria33 · 03/08/2023 10:49

oh we did too but I was told 18 months

My midwife told me 2 years! I really didn’t/don’t want to wait that long!

TomatoSandwiches · 03/08/2023 10:54

I was told to wait at least 12 months ttc.

Toria33 · 03/08/2023 10:55

Also 36 and I would have been 39 having the next if I stuck on their schedule

I waited 12 months before TTC, I have a 21 month gap between mine.

USaYwHatNow · 03/08/2023 10:55

I'm a midwife and we advise a year, however my friend sadly lost her baby at term (delivered by C section) and fell pregnant 9 months later and all was well with the subsequent pregnancy (planned another C section but went into labour and had a vaginal delivery)

babydust8 · 03/08/2023 10:57

I was told to wait 12 months before getting pregnant again.

This is exactly why we only waited 12 months before TTC again. I was 37 having DC1 and just turned 39 having DC2. We stopped then!

Incessantnamechangin · 03/08/2023 10:58

I was pregnant again when ds1 was 9 months . All was fine

Katela18 · 03/08/2023 11:00

I think the advice is 12 months, we had 2.5 but I have friends who had between 12 and 18 months and all fine.

On the other hand my mum had a 3 year gap and her scar ruptured (VBAC) so I think it really just depends!

romdowa · 03/08/2023 11:00

I was told to wait 18 months between sections. But I've known people who've had 2 sections in a 12 month period and been fine.

Only three months between babies?

It was over 10 years ago, but I had 2 c sections within 15 months. Not planned either and nothing was said by medics about it being unsafe.

I was offered (and accepted) tubal ligation for during the second section, so perhaps this was their subtle hint to not do it again...

Callmemummynotmaaa · 03/08/2023 16:02

I’ll likely have three c-sections and some intervention post loss in a four year period. By first two are 16 months apart (so pregnant 7 months pp). Wanted to VBAC second time around but medical advice was not to induce - and I was ‘failure to progress’ again so ended up with a second technical EMCS (but planned and consented to). Currently pregnant and age gap is only +2 years due to loss.

110APiccadilly · 03/08/2023 16:06

I was told to wait a year. I did, but DD2 needed to come slightly early so I have 20 months between them. They were happy to do an induction at that point though, and I had no issues, though the induction did fail so I had a second section in the end.

Pallisers · 03/08/2023 16:07

14 months between c sections. Didn't have any problems. Actually recovery was easier after the second one.

THNG5 · 03/08/2023 16:17

I fell pregnant accidentally (tubes cut but fused back together 🙄) when my third was 6 months old. So there's 15 months between my 3rd and 4th.
I had no problems whatsoever and I pretty much had my babies back to back. There's 20 months between number 2 (who was a section as well) and 3.

trampoline123 · 03/08/2023 16:20

I had my 1st by C section, then 14m later gave birth to the 2nd - no issues

Toria33 · 03/08/2023 16:31

Thanks so much for sharing. We had a lot of losses 7 pregnancies of 8 before our boy and we only had two pregnancies progressing this far, so exited blown away and in shock, it’s good that we’re not as in trouble health wise as we feared. Only 5 weeks at the second.. worried about telling family, did anyone ask like judge about the gap?

I found out I was pregnant on my DD1 first birthday. I wasn't told to wait 12 months. No issues with pregnancy or delivery and two very big babies, over 10lb..

MiMiPies · 03/08/2023 16:37

My second was born 22 months later again by c section. No problems.

tanoshii · 03/08/2023 17:43

Two c-sections within a 14 month period. I really don't recollect the advice to wait 12 months. I was 39 and 40 having my children, so didn't have much time to hang about. We were lucky to conceive our second child the first month trying..
