Some advice please re:mc

I was 7 weeks pregnant and went for a scan yesterday...no heartbeat. Doctor says baby died within last few days as the size was right for my dates. Anyway, I need a d and c but my doc is away til monday.(I live abroad so diferrent system to UK). Anyway, the thing I am petrified of is starting to bleed before I have the d and c next week. Just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience and if you started to miscarry naturally.

Im so sorry for your loss.

I have had 6 mc's and each one has been different. So I cant really help in telling you whether you will will lose natrually or not

I did 5 of mine naturally, 1 was a D&C but only because I waited 3 weeks to mc naturally and it didnt happen, I think I was around 7 weeks then.

I have m/c 6 times...all naturally, (the first time was at 7 wks too). Before 12 wks it really is not something to be frightened of...it honestly is no worse than a heavy period.
For me..and Im sorry if this is TMI, after the 3rd m/c the doctors wanted to collect the "material" to see what had gone wrong, so I needed to use a sieve and a little specimen jar (the size you use for a urine sample..it really is that small)when I went to the bathroom.
It isnt much consolation,particularly when you are suffering for the loss of this little one, but most women go on to have perfectly normal pregnancies after m/c....even I did eventually

Sorry for your loss. I have in fact had a few mcs at 7/8 weeks...only one was managed by a d and c.
The rest happened naturally. The bleeding was similar to a very ehavy period, was managable with over the counter painkillers and I passed a few clots etc...sorry if TMI.
I didn't see anything that resembled my baby, but Ido know that some people state that they see the sac..if so it is just a whitish sac.

Dear Rosie - I'm so sorry my love. I had something similar although I didn't realise that the pregnancy had stopped at 6 weeks but my body carried it on until 12 weeks (missed mc), and I mc naturally without a d&c. It was just like a very heavy period with strong period pains and it lasted about a week. It was utterly miserable though - you will need a lot of cuddles. If you start to mc naturally there is nothing you should worry about - don't be scared.
The d&c is done to make sure your womb is cleared out efficiently, which is likely to occur with a natural mc but the intervention is what some people go for to get it done quickly (sorry if that sounds a bit graphic).

Once it's all over, give yourselves some time to recover and then try again. Every pregnancy is different, and the mc you've experienced is mother nature's way of saying that things just weren't right with that fertilised egg - no reason why you can't go on to having a successful pregnancy.

I am so sorry to hear of your sad loss Rosie29. Every womens body is unique so I can't say if anything will happen within the next week for you or not. The body can remain in limbo as a way of protecting you as you deal with your emotions and loss.

Within my own experience it naturally happened after 10days, but I do know of other mums that experience it after 3 days and some after 3 weeks and as julezboo said sometimes not at all.

DDF; no need to appologise...every bit of information helps someone else along the line.
In my case there were 2 major reasons: We knew about the first before ttc;I have a Robertsonian translocation of chromosomes 14 & 21 ie I carry Downs Syndrome, so statistically 3 in 6 of my embryos are non-viable (of the remaining 3; 1 will have Downs, 1 will be a carrier (which is healthy and only an issue when ttc) and 1 will be normal). My 5th m/c happened at 12 wks, the baby had died at 10 wks and the testing proved it had had Downs.
The other reason wasn't diagnosed untill my 6th m/c, which amniocentesis testing at 16 wks proved was a healthy little girl, carrying the translocation. She died in utero a week later from previously undiagnosed antiphospholipid syndrome (sticky blood)...the amnio had caused in utero bleeding and the cord had clotted.
On the positive side..my next pg happened as soon as we tried again, I was put on heparin for the antiphospholipid syndrome, I didnt have an amnio because I couldnt face the risk and our healthy little boy is normal (and now 5 months old). Hope that was of some use.

Floriatosca - thank you for taking the time to tell me that. You have really been throuh alot haven't you? I have had blood tets but no reason has ever been found...

DDF; the bloodwork was always apparently borderline for "sticky blood" so they didnt think about treating it..after losing Robyn (my little girl)they repeated them and they came back positive. As soon as we got the result I started taking one junior (baby) aspirin per day and got my BFP 4 weeks later. Yes, it was tough, very tough... after Robyn I gave up, didnt think I could do it again...but those results came back, we tried once more and the end result was SO worth it!

Thank you again..and yes, when my DP held his first dd (my 3rd) it was sooo worth it.

wow...thanks all for your advice and support...I will wait and see what happens over the weekend and then perhaps go for the d and c next week. I feel much better now than this morning and just want things to go back to "normal" now iykwim.
