Hi All, wondering if anyone has experience with getting a doctors note while in the first trimester? I’m so nauseated and fatigued it’s increasingly difficult to focus on work. Also I keep getting flu like symptoms that are exhausting. Please and thank you :)

You can self certify for up to 7 days sick without a doctors note if you need to.
You can also ask to have amended duties as part of a pregnancy risk assessment at work, for example ask for shortened 4 or 5 hour days.

Doctors are pretty compassionate with this kind of thing. You should have no issues getting a sick note for pregnancy sickness.

Thank you for replying, what is hg please? This is my first and I can’t believe how poorly I feel!

It’s a pregnancy condition I guess called hyperemesis gravidarum. It’s been pretty debilitating for me this time.I was very sick during first pregnancy too but didn’t know it was a thing at the time.Definately speak to your doctor & get help as soon as possible / fit note.

Thank you @snoopy18 - I hope you feel better soon! Did you feel better further into the pregnancy?

I did during my first pregnancy yes so I’m really hoping it settles in this one too. I hope things settle for you too.

I am 10 weeks into my pregnancy and I have probably been off for 3 weeks now with constant nausea, sickness and fatigue. I self certified for 7 days and have had no issues getting sick notes from my GP. They can also arrange antisickness medication if you need it too.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you @Indreams21!

Does that not affect your pay then?
