Hello

I used to have regular periods with no issues all my life and then 2 years ago after birth of my second child, I began to have very long and heavy periods non stop. I eventually had to get the mirena coil with the instruction to keep it for 6 months at least. I had this removed after 7 months with the hope to conceive. My first period after mirena lasted over 10 days. My next period (current cycle) started when next expected but is still going on moderately and I’m on cycle day 9 today.

I took clomid cycle day 2-6 and I feel distraught that my period is still going on.

it’s my first time taking clomid as my other DCs were conceived naturally. I also did not get them here in UK and got it after a consultation in Spain.

Can anyone help please?
is it still possible to conceive with my bleeding lasting this long?

Im so worried

TIA

Did the spanish clinic do scans, tests etc to rule out if the long periods were caused by anything else? I had very long cycles and very long bleeding (like over 2 weeks some cycles) after my first baby and it took 2years for them to settle down. I had a lot of ultrasounds and blood tests but it was just one of those things.

Im very surprised that you have been given clomid for only the second cycle coming off the coil though. Were you actively ttc before you went on the coil? Are you having follicular tracking alongside the clomid?

Hi @CrispAppleStrudels. I’m currently under specialist care with gynaecology privately through work but this does not cover fertility. I have only been able to address my bleeding issues. And yes I have wanted to ttc just as my problems started which is why I didn’t want the mirena coil to begin with. But it wasn’t getting any better so succumbed to agreeing to it. I have had 3 biopsies in the last year and had polyps removed in 2 of those. Blood tests are all clear: My cycles were still not great even after removing the polyps so I was told it is probably just a hormonal imbalance.

No pre tests in Spain - just a consultation explaining reasons for why I wanted/needed clomid.
