I’m 8 weeks pregnant and soooo hungry, am I the only one?

I’m 8 weeks pregnant in my first pregnancy and I am starving ALL OF THE TIME! Not to mention all I am craving is junk food.

I went from a size 2/small to none of my clothes fitting me so far unless they are stretchy and on the bigger side. I think I have gained around 3 kilos so far (or more).

I read online that during the first trimester you’re barely supposed to gain weight and your stomach doesn’t show at all so I am super nervous that at this rate I’ll be the size of a house in my third trimester. Am I the only one who has or is experiencing this?😖

Nope - 12 weeks next week and it has eased abit but week 8/9 I was like a human dustbin!!?

I read everyone else barely able to eat because of sickness but I have no sickness apart from when I an hungry I start feeling nauseous .
All I want is carbs really too!!!!

I think you just have to trust your body and if it wants food, that's it! You have to do what you need to make yourself feel well at this stage x

oh my goodness I am the same as you - no sickness just hunger! I eat and don’t get full which is scaring me! Haha

I lived on toast and crumpets and baked potatoes x

I can always tell when a colleague is pregnant because they start eating all the carbs in sight. Recently one of my health conscious colleagues nipped out for a Greggs sausage roll... no surprise then the pregnancy announcement came a few weeks later.

I remember from my own pregnancies just wanting to sleep and eat for the first twelve weeks. It did calm down in second trimester.

Justashley · 29/07/2023 20:55

This was me with DS, absolutely ravenous! It did ease off though after a week or two and I went to only being able to stomach certain foods and being extremely tired instead of hungry. Just roll with it, it'll ebb and flow I expect throughout but worth listening to your body.

Hi op Congratulations on your pregnancy
Im currently 20+4 with my 4th.
During my first trimester I was so hungry I could eat anything that was in front of me. Now I'm in my second trimester it has eased so much..

Pitstop1986 · 30/07/2023 12:34

I'm the same as @jadey1991 I was ravenous in the first trimester and eating portions that made my 6 foot 2 husband's portions look childlike in comparison! After about 13 weeks, mu appetite subsided. I had a phase where I felt so full all of the time I was struggling to eat much in one go, so just grazed on snacks and tiny meals all day, now I'm just eating 3 normal sized meals and a couple of snacks per day.

Randomly I didn't gain loads in the first trimester, despite being a human dustbin, but since I've been eating normally, the weight has piled on! I'm presuming because of this, the weight is all baby related.

Don't worry about it, listen to your body, if you're hungry, eat! Try to eat as much nutritious food as you can, but don't beat yourself up if the odd treat or takeaway slip in there too. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Oh man me too!! I’m 7+5 and just constantly craving (and eating) carbs. Want savoury food much more than usual too. The other day I’d had breakfast and then a couple of hours later couldn’t stop fantasising about chips and beans. Definitely have more of a tummy already 😂🤦‍♀️

Mangotango39 · 30/07/2023 21:22

Oh the old wives tale also says sweet craving for a girl, savoury for a boy!

Not sure how true .... 😁

So happy to find this post, I’m a little late replying but this is me right now.

I do feel very sick though, but I find if I get hungry, it’s way worse, so I’m eating to keep the sickness at bay but I’m also just absolutely starving, I’m going to be huge ! And I’m also craving so much crap and carbs !
this is my second and I can’t remember being this way with my first

MariaVT65 · 11/09/2023 12:13

Yes totally normal! I was starving all the time including overnight.

My hunger did calm down around 2nd trimester.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 11/09/2023 12:20

Think it goes 1 of 2 ways. I had horrific morning sickness so I couldn't eat anything. I know other that didn't get sickness that wanted to eat everything carbs in sight!

justsayso · 11/09/2023 12:20

I felt nauseous and managed this my eating constantly. I was very hungry in the 1st trimester. Your body is doing a lot of work those first weeks! Enjoy it, don't stress too much. It went away for me about 14/16 weeks.

Mum7644885 · 11/09/2023 12:22

@justsayso this is how I’m managing also, the hunger of a night is terrible, hoping it goes away by the second trimester, can’t carry on like this 😂 I’m eating my lunch wondering what the hell im going to eat next
