Pregnant post vasectomy….

Good morning all.

I think my thread title says it all….has anyone conceived despite their husband having had a vasectomy?

My DH had a vasectomy about 2-3 years ago, he went for his follow-up and all was fine.

My periods have always been completely regular and I have an exact 28 day cycle. My period is always on time and comes the day I expect it.

However, this month I’m now 3 days late.

I know pregnancies post vasectomy can occur but I also know the likelihood is very rare.

About ten days ago my husband noticed a swelling in his scrotum, near to his testicle and the doctor thought it was just a cyst of some sort. My DH was prescribed a course of antibiotics which made no difference and so he’s having an ultrasound scan in two weeks time.

Between his scrotal swelling and my period being 3 days late I’m worried that somehow they’re linked.

I’ve told my DH about my late period and my concerns but he’s sort of laughing it off and saying I’m overthinking things - but I’m genuinely worried.

I told him I was considering whether to take a pregnancy test but he said there was no need and that my period will arrive and that it could be late for any number of reasons. I do know that and I know he’s just trying to reassure me, but I still feel nervous.

Any advice very much welcomes 😬

So take the test !

Take a test but you're unlikely to be pregnant.
I have occasionally skipped periods for no reason in the few years since dh had is vasectomy. I have also been late a couple of times.

I'd put money on you not being pregnant.

Take a test.
Could you be coming to the age where your periods lengthen/shorten due to peri menopause?

If only there was a magic little stick widely available to buy that could give you an instant answer.

mumofboys8787 · 29/07/2023 09:07

Wtf??? Just take a pregnancy test

I’m 39.

Sod it, I’m just going to buy one even if it’s just to give me some peace of mind. I won’t be able to get one today as I’m off out with friends in about 20 minutes and I won’t be back until tomorrow but at least that gives my period another day to arrive.

I’ve told DH that if it doesn’t come today then I’m taking a test tomorrow.

For all those who have said the same as my husband (as in I won’t be pregnant), I will hold onto that 👍

It can and does happen . But to keep your mind at rest take a test. Best of luck

I wiped myself earlier after I’d had a wee and there was some dried/dark blood on the toilet paper so I assumed my period was on its way and felt relief. However, that was almost 8 hours ago and there’s been nothing since - not even a small sighting of blood or any red colouring when I have wiped after having a wee.

I’ve told my husband I’m taking a test tomorrow and although he’s adamant it’s not necessary as there’s “no way” I’m pregnant, I just need that confirmation.

Hopefully I will wake up and it will have arrived though as that’s what normally happens….it comes on during the night and then I wake up to a messy situation 🤞🤞
