Measuring Earlier

From my app and Dr's appointment, I thought I was currently 7.5 weeks.
But due to some bleeding. I was booked for a scan yesterday, to which we have found out I am measuring at 5.5 or 6 weeks, and they could not see a heartbeat
Everything seemed OK, the Nurse said, looking at position and sac, etc, and small pole fetus
I have got to wait 2 weeks for a further scan to check growth/weeks/heartbeat.

I am still bleeding on and off, and my limited symptoms I did have seem to of worn off.
I just don't know how I am going to wait 2 weeks for this scan and can't help but think the worse.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?

I had an early scan due to bleeding at what should have been 6.5 weeks and I was only measuring 5.5 and no heartbeat. They said I might have got my dates wrong (I knew I hadn't as was tracking ovulation) and it might be fine. I was rescanned 2 weeks later and sadly nothing had changed so it was a missed miscarriage which I chose to surgical management for.
There are however many stories online where people have got their dates wrong and at the rescan things have been totally fine. Sadly there's no way to know.

Oh I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you for replying 🤍
I am hoping for the best outcome, but can't switch off from thinking the worst unfortunately

I was in petty much the same situation! I was scanned at 7 weeks from my LMP but only measured at 5 weeks. They rescanned 2 weeks later and I was measuring at 7, so staying 2 weeks behind what I thought.

By the time I got to my 12 week scan, baby had caught up a bit and was only measuring 6 days behind

hope your rescan goes well😊

@FirstMondayInMay Thankyou for your reply, did you have the bleeding?
I can't stop worrying, have no idea how I am going to get through these next 2 weeks

@WorriedMama92 i had some spotting and really bad period type pains, they thought it may have been ectopic at first which is why they scanned. After the second scan they discharged me from the EPU, saying that I must have just ovulated later than I thought

WorriedMama92 · 29/07/2023 14:19

@FirstMondayInMay that's good news then and I am clinging onto that to happen to me too 🤍
Did you have pregnancy symptoms at that time? I feel like the only symptoms I did have were sore boobs and strong sense of smell which I think has gone...but I'm not sure if it's my head playing tricks on me, with what is going on

@WorriedMama92 i think I’d been sick once but apart from that nothing else.

it’s a really difficult time, I was horrible whilst waiting for my rescan, they couldn’t see anything inside the sac on my first scan so I was convinced that it was a mc

WorriedMama92 · 29/07/2023 14:53

@FirstMondayInMay I had a scan on my tummy which all they could see was the sac, then they did an internal scan, which the nurse said they could then see a small fetus, then took measurements and said measuring at 5.5 /6 weeks mark, which u thought I was at 7.5 mark...so a little out.
It's awful I'm on day one of the 2 week wait and I'm already driving myself insane 🤦🏼‍♀️

I am going out my mind with worry and have 2 weeks to wait.
I am hoping for a positive outcome, I think the whole symptoms seem to of stopped, plus the bleeding and measuring earlier than I thought...just all sounds worrying

How sure are you of your dates? Do you track ovulation? I'm afraid I don't have a positive story (I was totally sure of my dates as I was tracking ovulation), measured 12 days behind and went on to have a missed miscarriage with light bleeding for over 2 weeks before I had surgical management.

I hope you are doing okay. I am going through similar after a private scan. I thought I was 8+2 weeks on day of scan but was barely a fetus there and no heartbeat. I think I am further behind than your difference so I really hope you have a more hopeful outcome
