Bleeding

Whilst I wait for a hospital scan for some clarified answers, I wanted to know if any other women have experienced the same and could advise their result.

On the day of my expected period, I got a positive pregnancy test.. amazing! But the next day, I started bleeding. It was more than spotting but not heavy enough to grant having to change a pad regularly like a period.

I have had a miscarriage before so was anticipating to see an increase blood flow for the next week that would get heavier and heavier .. instead, I have experienced the slight cramp here and there, tiny or stringy clots and only had to wear a couple pads each day across the 2 days (I would see most of the flow when sitting on the toilet, it was just pouring out; sorry for the TMI)

By the afternoon of the second day, it had calmed down a lot.. to the point where it’s just spotting and barely when I wipe. Abrupt change.

I know all miscarriages are different but I’m wondering if I have jumped the gun here? Surely it can’t be a 1.5 day done deal. Or am I just being way too optimistic and it’s been fairly quick as I’m only 4 weeks.

Like I mentioned, I have seen a dr and also have a scan booked. I am more just wondering other people’s experiences..

This happened to me and it turns out I've got a subchorionic hematoma which is a like a blood clot in my uterus. After a few trips to hospital, I've been told its quite common and they're just going to keep an eye on it. I started bleeding at 12 weeks and I'm 17 weeks now. I hope your scan goes okay ❤️

Oh, that’s awful but I am so glad you & baby are okay!! And ofc, massive congratulations!! Out of curiosity, would the bleeding last one/two days with tiny clots then stop? did/do you have any other symptoms?

I am still tired, headaches, hungry constantly, peeing nonstop etc .. still feel v much pregnant so really starting to hope there’s a chance the bleeding is down to something else. After nearly 2 days, i am now just having bloody discharge when I wipe and spotting .. so odd.

It would be interesting to hear if any of you ladies have had implantation similar to the above situation? (Bright red blood with tiny clots that lasted 1 day before turning into spotting for another day)

The first time it was a lot of bright red blood but the second and third time was the same as you - just a few days of darker blood with little stringy bits ( it's weird to type that 😐 ). I still had all of my usual pregnancy symptoms like achy back, ALWAYS hungry but still loads of sickness. It could be just everything settling in at this stage. They told me not to worry and try to relax - which was impossible at the earlier stages because you don't know what's happening inside you! ❤️

It could be implantation bleeding?

I had so many bleeds through pregnancy and my first was around 5 weeks, i bled on and off from that time and my last bleed was approx 22 weeks!

Sometimes id have clots, other times the bleeds would last an hour and then sometimes they would last days! I was terrified each and every time and had so many scans in EPU and paid for many more private ones just to make sure baby was okay at each bleed!

I was told that i had a pocket of blood in my uterus away from baby, and there is a chance that was causing the bleeding but one midwife said some ladies just bleed and never have an answer as to why! By around 16 week ish the pocket of blood had gone so i can’t even guess what caused the bleeds after 16 weeks!

Thankfully, all was okay for me and little girl is here safe and well!

Try and relax the best you can, it shocked me how common bleeding during pregnancy actually was! Hoping that all is okay for you! X

I had implantation bleeding at 8 weeks. Bright blood, it was only on wiping, never had to wear a pad. It lasted about a day and then I had dark brown stringy blood for a day or 2 afterwards. Had a scan that showed everything was fine. My dd just turned 1. I know bleeding is scary but it doesn't always mean something bad xx

Hey @Caz04 what you've described is literally exactly what's happening to me at the moment. Glad you've got a scan booked in...when I phoned the doctors they said to do a test in a week which made me feel like they defo think it's a miscarriage. Got my fingers crossed for you!

@july89 just wondering how you are? Same thing happened to me yesterday. 1 massive heavy bleed which suddenly stopped now im just waiting on a scan no idea if I've miscarried but they said i might be too early to see! Dont know why the bleeding stopped but don't want false hope!

Hey @Tori93k sorry to say mine wasn't good news but my bleeding started up again quite soon after that message. If yours has completely stopped fingers crossed it's just a weird anomaly. Hope so for you!! X

I'm still yet to find anything out but it's useful having seen the positive and negative outcomes on here, made me stop googling and realise anything could happen just need to wait and see
