When to chase up first appointment?

It's now been four weeks since I self-referred at 4+2, and I still haven't heard anything other than the confirmation they had received it. I am not sure whether to wait longer or chase it up.

When were you contacted about your first appointment, and then when was the appointment itself?

I'm in Southampton if anyone has any particular experience here.

Thanks!

NHS advice is for your booking appointment be before 10 weeks. I would give them a gentle chase to make sure you get it in this period and with some notice for you.

I am in Portsmouth area so same self referral system. I self refereed at 5 weeks and had contact at 7/8 weeks for an appointment at 10 weeks.

I would chase if you can.

I self referred at 6ish weeks then when I hadn't heard anything by 10 weeks I rang them. Good job I did as they hadn't had my form for some reason. But the form had said don't fill it in if you're over 10 weeks, ring them instead. So I sort of set 10 weeks as my limit for chasing them up if I hadn't heard anything. I'm not in Southampton though.

I'll be 9 weeks +4 by the time of my first appointment but I'm definitely planning to have a private scan around 7/8 weeks. If you have the possibility to do the same I'd recommend it 😁

I self referred at 4 weeks and was told to wait 7 days to hear back, then called again and was told to wait another 10 days. I kept ringing every week until they gave me a different number to call and then I finally got given an appointment at 11 weeks. Absolute nightmare and very stressful. My advice would be get chasing around 8 weeks or so.

Where I am you can't self-refer until 8 weeks and you are advised to chase them if you haven't heard by 12 weeks. This seems ridiculously late! I'm nine weeks and just twiddling my thumbs...

Sussex you have your booking appt at 8 weeks

Burningthroughthesky · 29/07/2023 00:29

I rang on Wednesday, was 8 weeks on the Friday, then had a text confirmation on Monday for an appointment that Wednesday. So was 8 weeks and 5 days when I got "booked in".

I did try to phone a couple of times before, but no one answered the phone and there wasn't an option to leave a voicemail. There isn't an online form either. Seems a bit strange!

Different part of the country but when I self referred it stated if you hsvnt heard anything within 3 weeks ring .... and gave a number. So I would deffo ring for a gentle chase.
