Dark line on test

I'm 5 weeks today and all my tests are coming back incredibly dark. This has never happened with my other babies. I'm finding I'm really suffering with pregnancy symptoms too.

Anyone else had dark lines on tests?

Mine were that dark on the day i missed my period with both kids. No twins 😂

TeaKitten · 27/07/2023 13:17

Why are you still testing? It’s totally normal for the lines to be that dark a week after your missed period, it doesn’t mean anything other than you are pregnant. Congrats!

@TeaKitten I've had previous miscarriages so I'm anxious

Both mine were very dark but I didn’t carry on testing. You’ve got a strong positive so I would prob stop testing now

nationallampoons · 27/07/2023 13:19

@Mysleepisbroken my dad is a twin, as was his mum 🙈

Understandable to be anxious but you’ll drive yourself mad testing all the time. If youve got symptoms that’s a good sign. Maybe book an early scan at 8ish weeks that will help xx

nationallampoons · 27/07/2023 13:21

@Glitterstars I think I will, thank you

The twin gene can only run down the maternal line so you aren’t at more risk of twins. Dark line doesn’t mean twins. But it is still a good encouraging sign that the pregnancy is continuing though, I recommend stepping away from the tests!

I wouldn’t say that’s a dark line for 5 weeks I would say it’s completely normal. Congratulations 😊

PickledScrump · 27/07/2023 20:15

That line is normal for 5 weeks, wouldn’t say it was darker than expected at that stage. Also twins run down the maternal line, your dad being a twin wouldn’t make any difference

nationallampoons · 27/07/2023 20:16

@TeaKitten I'm taking your advice, no more tests 🙂
