Biro pen ink on skin during pregnancy?

I recently went to the hospital and a non-clinical member of the team drew on my body in several places with a biro. I’ve read biro ink contains many toxins. Does anyone know if biro ink can cause problems for the fetus? I was 12 weeks at the time. TIA x

Have you spoken to anyone about your anxiety?

There’s no possible mechanism of harm. It doesn’t cause problems when ingested by a child, there is no way it could harm a fetus even if you had swallowed it let alone had it on your skin.
this sounds more like a problem of quite acute anxiety? Hope you are ok.

Hi, I agree with @TookTheBook. You sounds very anxious. I reckon that IF the biro ink were harmful, it’d have to be in a very large dose. Like if you drank a glass of biro ink maybe that could be harmful. There’s no way it could have harmed the fetus from the amount you were exposed to though.

Apologies for typo of sounds. I hope you feel better soon and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Life isn’t a dress rehearsal and you are in a very enjoyable part of life right now xxx

Yes it's harmful...if you drank a pint of ink. I'd consider seeking some support for your anxiety

I understand pregnancy can be a worrying time but that’s extreme. Do speak to your MW if you are anxious about other things.
