Brown discharge in morning 8 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone

I'm very anxious because I had a miscarriage last year and it took another year to get pregnant again.

I started getting a really light tint to my discharge at 6 weeks 5 days - went to the EPU and had a scan in a panic convinced it was happening again - and was so happy to see the little heartbeat and the size was measuring right.

Since then on and off I've had a bit of light brown discharge which throws me into a total spin every time I see it. It seems to be a morning thing, when I first wake up and wipe, then it goes away. I'm just so worried it's going to happen again wanted to know if anyone else had this with spotting around this time (I'm 8 weeks 1 day now) particularly in the morning.

When I miscarried it was different, started off brown spotting but much more liquid and quite quickly turned really dark brown and then clots/ dark stringy type mucas followed by cramps and heavy bleeding within 5 days total.

I'm trying to stay positive that it's different symptoms this time (discharge has been on and off for 1.5weeks - not the same colour or texture. Anyone had the same?

Hiya
I previously had an ectopic and chemical pregnancy, I’m currently 10 weeks 4 days pregnant now. At 6 weeks I had brown discharge to phone EPU convinced something had happened again went in for a scan and also seen a heartbeat. It carried on for the next 2 weeks after that also and was still convinced everything wasn’t going to be ok so booked another private scan and baby was measuring exactly where they should be.

I already have a little girl and never had any bleeding or brown discharge with her in my first pregnancy, it’s so scary to see and i had also put a post up on hear where people came back and said that they experienced it to and everything had been fine.
Everything is still going fine and I haven’t had it for a couple of weeks now and definitely feeling very pregnant with sickness haha

hope that reassures you/ helps and hope your ok❤️

I had a brown discharge in my second pregnancy, all in the first trimester. It was down to a bruise on my uterus, possibly caused at implantation.

Have you been exercising or having sex? That seemed to bring on my brown tinged discharge.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I just got home from work (which involves walking, a tube and a bus) and I have brown discharge in my knickers which as made me even more worried. I'm going to go to the EPU again tomorrow morning as they have a walk in service and told me to come back if i was concerned about bleeding - it's the not knowing that's awful and keeping hoping but worrying! So happy to hear you are all fine, fingers crossed its good news for me too xx

@Uremindmeofthebabe I usually go to the gym 3 times a week min but I haven't been in the last week becuase I've been so worried. Haven't even had sex since we got the positive because although I know science says its fine we just wanted to get through the 12 weeks.

@Bc102 what was your discharge like if you don't mind me asking?

@Rosebud2022 let us know how it goes and I hope everything is ok! It’s such a scary time and so hard not to think the worst 💔 but getting checked will put ur mind at rest. And of course I don’t mind you asking, it was just like the regular consistency of pregnancy discharge but tinged brown, not dark brown but pale/ light brown and didn’t have any red. What’s yours like? X

Rosebud2022 · 25/07/2023 10:19

@Bc102 yeah mine sounds similar- light brown no red. I just got back from the EPU... scan showed baby looking good, measuring right at 8 weeks and heartbeat. I'm so relieved! They said the all quite normal, nothing to worry about and that seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks mean the odds of miscarriage dramatically drop which is reassuring!

I guess we are just so on edge because of previous losses. Sending us both all the healthy vibes for a happy healthy pregnancy! 😘

I had brown discharge in my first trimester and remember the constant panic, so many times I thought oh this is it, it's over. But I've now got a healthy 8 month old napping upstairs and went on to have a very smooth pregnancy

Rosebud2022 · 25/07/2023 10:35

@chunkyfunky so great to hear, thanks for sharing and congratulations :)

@Rosebud2022 so glad to hear everything’s ok! It’s obviously a more common symptom than Google lets on because it’s always bad when you look on there which makes u even more worried! But yes its definitely because of past experiences I never ever felt this anxious pregnant with my daughter❤️

So happy for you and wish you all the best to for a healthy pregnancy ❤️
