Would you elect for a section if you had very painful hemmoroids? What was your experience?

Hi, I wonder could anyone help shed any light on hemmoroids before delivery cos I am miserable.

I’ve been suffering really badly with hemmoroids since about a week ago, I’m now almost 36 weeks so almost due. I think they came from the pressure of the bump and baby etc.

I was at the doc on Monday and have been using scheriproct suppositories and cream since then so almost a week. I’m even taking paracetamol regularly (which makes me so nervous) It’s not touching the pain and I’m waking all through the night in agony. I’ve been having Epsom salt baths and even tried the sugar technique to reduce inflammation to no avail.

I’m wondering has anyone been through this and has anything helped? I was back at the doc and he basically said only having the baby would bring relief.

I’m not sure if I can go through labour and push a baby out like this, and think I may have to opt for a section (which I really, really don’t want 😢)

Has anyone any experiences about bad hemmoroids BEFORE giving birth. How did you cope? Did you elect for a section? I have a 2 year old and my last labour was very long and intense and ended in painful episiotomy and vacuum and lots of complications after. I’m at a loss 😢 any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I had terrible piles before birth. They hurt more than contractions, miles more. But during birth I had an epidural and after than they kind of went away.

I had piles when pregnant and had an elective section for other reasons. I had a really positive experience.

That's so interesting to hear they just went away .

Did have bad pain during the labour with the piles?

Yep, awful piles before birth. Cried from the pain, couldn’t sit down and was taking endless baths and Germaloid ointment to try to soothe them. Was so nervous of labour and birth making them worse but I had a lovely midwife who I blabbered to about my awful piles and whatever magic she worked during labour they didn’t get worse at all. I remember her saying not to worry. Didn’t feel them or pain from them at all during or after birth and they just kind of vanished. Didn’t think of them at all post birth really. So not quite sure when they went away!

Mine were awful to even post birth. Couldn’t sit at all for long. Had to go doc and get stuff for it but they took a while to settle. Used all sorts eventually went away.
