Just got my bfp yesterday and EDD is early April 2024. Anyone else similar and feel like keeping each other company?

I have my scan tomorrow. I will be 6+6, so everything should be visible.
I flip between thinking everything is fine, and it will be great news tomorrow, to thinking, I havent had a dye stealer, or even really a hook effect test, and maybe things are no evolving as they should...

Currently in the doom and gloom mood...

Possibly not helped by the lack of appetite Ive been experiencing, which should be a great sign of pregnancy, but it is the only symptom I have, and what if things arent great?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hey was wondering if anyone can give me some advise.

I'm 4 weeks preg first time mum and i rang the midwife she said its too soon for an appointment and i need to call back when im 6 weeks, prev had a miscarriage at 5 weeks so im abit scared rn.

I live in the uk im guessing its different elsewhere so if anyone from the england here can help with some advice as to how i can get an appointment sooner will be much appreciatedBlush or even when you had your first appointments just for reassurance, thank you girls xxxx

Hey @Babyrabbit1 I’m sorry to hear of your loss.

I’m around 6 weeks, I rung my doctors today and was told booking appointments (at my surgery) are done between 8 and 10 weeks. From my memory I think my last pregnancy was similar too. I’m in the UK as well. Hope that helps x

Babyrabbit1 · 16/08/2023 19:11

Thank you so much ❤

sugarplum33 · 16/08/2023 19:15

@Babyrabbit1 Congratulations and sorry for your previous loss. Your first midwife appointment is just for booking in and normally takes place around 8-10 weeks. Not getting you in the system until 6 weeks sounds pretty typical, so don't worry. Unless you have any particular concerns around this pregnancy or the EPAU told you to contact them as a follow up from your previous miscarriage, your care will follow the typical pattern of appointments and after your booking in appointment you will have a scan at around 12 weeks. You could always book a private early scan before this point.

@SurreyPsych Haha I'm a big planner/prepper, I love to get ahead. Oh you poor thing, there's nothing like greasy stodgy food when you're feeling rough! I find it fascinating how the first trimester is the time we really should be eating the absolute healthiest, it's the time everything is developing quickest and we need all the vitamins we can get. And so our bodies aid this by allowing us to eat only beige crap?! Seems like a slight oversight of Mother Nature.
What a lovely surprise for your son. What made you delay if you don't mind me asking?

Babyrabbit1 · 16/08/2023 20:00

@sugsugarplum33 thanks for the reply haha makes sense, i will contact them during the 8th week im hoping to book a private scan on week 8 to hear the heartbeat as im super paranoid! Literally doing 2x pregnancy tests a day to make sure its real and im not dreaming!!🤣❤❤

NinaGeiger · 16/08/2023 20:10

Hi everyone, just had a positive test! Exciting.

Just wondered if there's a Facebook group? With my first baby, everyone off the Mumsnet thread for people due the same month joined a secret Facebook group and it was really good - bit easier to keep track of posts and we still use it now, 2 year later.

Mammac85 · 16/08/2023 20:12

Hi all hope it's ok to join you all.
I got my bfp on Sunday, it was a complete shock I was convinced I was just really late 🙈 edd is 16th April
This will hopefully be number 4 for us.

HelloMoon87 · 16/08/2023 20:15

@Babyrabbit1 same, I was doing 2 tests a day 😂 but I ran out so no more tests for me. I've also had a loss, I'm dpo 18, and usually the losses were around dpo 20, so just hoping to get to that point without too much stress.
I'll probably also do a scan at 8 weeks if all goes ok till then

SurreyPsych · 16/08/2023 21:13

@Babyrabbit1 I’m also in the UK. I haven’t seen the GP yet, I tried to get an appointment today but I was too late (I need help with the nausea!) so I’ve set an alarm to get in there early tomorrow. I’m 7+1.
Sorry about your previous loss and congratulations.

welcome @NinaGeiger and @Mammac85 there is a Facebook group but we’re keeping this group active as some of us don’t have Facebook accounts.

@sugarplum33 the delay is to do with my work. Ideally I’d have liked to wait another couple of years but that didn’t work for my family so … here we are. Now I’m fighting the battle with work instead :D :-/

I did an online booking form and they called and I've got an app for when I'm 8 weeks. I think the earliest you can book a private scan is 6 weeks. I know it's a really nervy time so sending love xx

Hi there, just joining in and trying to catch up on this (very long already!) thread! Is there another link to the Facebook group? It doesn't seem to be working anymore.

I was lucky with my GP. I fell pregnant straight after my chemical with no period in between. I called my GP to make sure this was okay and he was great and got confirmation from maternity this was fine and then put me on to the midwives also. They said while we have you on the phone I may as well book you in. My booking appt with them is when im 7+3 and scan will be 7+4

Im just getting so anxious about no nausea or sickness. I really thought i would have it by now. My friends/family/workmates all had quite rough pregnancies so feeling fine is alien to me. Just sore boobs and change in appetite/filling a lot quicker followed by indigestion and insomnia

When I was pregnant with DD1, I felt sick for weeks - couldn’t face the thought of eating at all. With DD2, I had a couple of waves of nausea right at the beginning but that was it. Now pregnant with DC3 and feeling sick again.

Every pregnancy is different so your lack of nausea isn’t something to stress about. You have other symptoms instead. 😊

SurreyPsych · 17/08/2023 10:07

Around the clock nausea is utterly torturous. Particularly at a stage where no one knows about the pregnancy and life must continue as normal. I would do almost anything to trade it for other symptoms

olderthanyouthink · 17/08/2023 10:49

Good morning, can I join? I've been quietly reading along for just over a week, long story but this will be out not exactly planned third and we're having a rough patch with DC1 (4.5).

I think due roughly 16th April.

Have had heartburn for about a week and nausea really kicked in yesterday otherwise I feel normal, have been breastfeeding for years so not sure my boobs will do much than get sore nipples again.

I just texted my midwife from DC2 and she thinks I can have her again which would be amazing, she's a homebirth one from Kings College. Someone up thread said they were also with kings?

Oh and I've only done one test 🙈

SurreyPsych · 17/08/2023 11:44

Welcome @olderthanyouthink

CinderRosie · 17/08/2023 12:33

Welcome and congrats @olderthanyouthink

@SurreyPsych sorry to hear you have round the clock nausea that sounds horrific.

I'm definitely feeling nauseous in the mornings, I get up at 6:30 for work and feel fine and it kicks in about 8-9am, I don't feel 'queasy' as such but feel like I could dry heave at any moment for no reason.
I'm so worried I'm going to at work retching in front of my colleagues in the office or in front of a client. At the same time as feeling nauseous I also feel hungry but don't fancy anything. Nearer lunchtime it starts to ease off and I'm ravenous for the rest of the day.

Angloitalian83 · 17/08/2023 13:04

@olderthanyouthink hello, welcome and congrats on the surprise baby 🙈

I'm also referring myself to Kings where I had my first in 2020. I'm slightly out of area though so can't be registered with them if I want a home birth. Given my first labour was both early & very quick I'm a little nervous about making it to the hospital (driving up Dog Kennel bloody Hill behind cyclists was absolutely torturous) & how to juggle childcare for my 3yo.

I may end up considering switching to Lewisham to allow for a home birth option nearer the time, but keen to see what midwives say about home birth after a (small) PPH with my first.

Anyhoo, probably more than you needed to know 😂 👋🏽

olderthanyouthink · 17/08/2023 13:15

Thanks @SurreyPsych and @CinderRosie

Hey @Angloitalian83 👋 yeah I had a god awful car ride in labour with my first and I've said never again! She was accidentally born at home, we were sent home from St Thomas' 🙃

How early and fast? They say it gets faster each time but DC1 & DC2 were similar but different, longer pushing with 2 but being at home probably didn't delay things like with 1.

Not really sure what to do with my 2 for appointments though hopefully midwife ones will be at home the scans take ages compared to other hospitals. No nursery or school, considering putting the younger in a drop off playgroup thing...

LOL I'm a chatterbox

Angloitalian83 · 17/08/2023 14:36

@olderthanyouthink he was born at exactly 38wks on my first day of mat leave. Start to finish was 4.5hrs, got to hospital after 2hrs at home & was fully dilated. But I think the journey coupled with the gas & air then stalled things a lot & he was born 2hrs later. Husband had to practically drag me into the car to get to hospital because I was adamant that it was too late to go & wanted to stay at home. I was having very strong urges to push in the car but managed to hold it together til we got there. Not a fun car journey 🥴

Accidentally born at home? Was that also due to a fast arrival? What did you do with your first child when the second was born?

There's much more to juggle this time around but trying not to get ahead of myself! 🙃

olderthanyouthink · 17/08/2023 14:56

@Angloitalian83 ah man the first day?! How inconsiderate! You better get your bum out the door as soon as you feel a twinge if it's anywhere near rush hour.

I went into hospital when contractions were whatever they advised they should be to come in, they had a look and said 1cm, go home, will be tomorrow. I didn't budge for a while and then it took ages to get stuff sorted and get home, 30 mins from walking through the door till her shooting out while I desperately resisted, then paramedics arrived a bit after that.

Second birth was similarly odd, I don't look like I'm about to have a baby till it's basically on its way out. This is why I want the same midwife, she knows what happens and how odd I am.

My first was there for the birth (at night, she slept till the last bit) and mostly in nursery for appointments except a couple scans where grandparents had her.
