Heartbeat like a train - boy?

I just had my 16 week midwife appointment and she said the baby's heartbeat sounded like a train so she thought it was a boy (a girl sounds like a galloping horse apparently). Heart rate was 153.

I hadn't heard this before - what's everyone's experiences?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That sounds like nonsense tbh.

It’s nonsense. Consultant said mine sounded like a girl but I had a boy.

A steam train or a diesel?

With dc2 midwife was convinced it was a boy as heartbeat sounded like a train. In labour when they put the monitor on I remember distinctly thinking the heartbeat sounded like a galloping horse - dd born shortly after.

I'm envisaging Thomas the tank engine

So basically not reliable!

I think that might be the same
Midwife that asked me if my boy/girl twins were identical 🙄

AbsoIutelyLovely · 21/07/2023 16:13

Mine both galloped & both boys

I love horses though so probably my own bias.

its all nonsense IMO

It’s all nonsense. According to the heart rate theory my first 2 should be boys, they’re definitely both girls
