Tell me the inaccuracies of Sneak Peek / Nub theory

I hadn't ever thought about it before, just trusted their claims of being 95% accurate (without looking into that claim) and used them for previous 3 babies. All 3 came back as boys and were indeed boys!

So I decided to use it again this pregnancy. The result is a 4th boy! We were thrilled, chose a name etc.

Then came out Dating Scan at 12wks +3 days. Of course couldn't resist asking for a clear Nub shot and sending that to "The Nub Experts" who came back saying "early girl prediction".

Now I know nub theory isn't that accurate prior 13wks but researching into Sneak Peek it seems neither are their home testing kits 🤦‍♀️

Should have just waited for the 16 week scan right? 😂

Attached is my scan pic for reference.

The scan does look girly.

Is a sneak peak the blood test one you do at home? I've heard it can be really easily contaminated so if you have a husband and three boys already it seems possible that that happened!

Kalodin · 21/07/2023 13:11

Yeah that's what everything online seems to be saying @Spottypineapple ! I did wash everything down and properly scrubbed my hands but I suppose smallest bit of DNA could easily be missed!

I’d say the nub looks girly. As pp said the sneak peak tests are really bad for contaminants and obviously the company get out of it by claiming user error. You’d need to have a blood test done at a clinic for more accuracy.

There are definitely inaccuracies in both methods, especially the at home sneak peek test. But I used nub techs twice in my first 2 pregnancies and both times they said girl. They were both boys. I used sneak peek this time but the in clinic method rather than at home method, and it was correct. Basically - the only thing you can do now is wait patiently for gender scan but I feel really bad for you as the waiting is going to be torture now!

Kalodin · 21/07/2023 14:46

Waiting is totally torture 🫣😂 I do have a 14 week scan too so I'm going to ask for another picture (assuming I can have a picture for that one)

I've had a boy and girl and they were right both times for me.

Apparently a forked nub (like the one shown on your scan) is nearly always a girl nub. This is how they could tell with my daughter.

Currently 35 weeks with a surprise baby and we don't know the gender and have avoided the nub techs etc just in case it ruins our surprise!

Hi op, do you have an update did it end up being another boy?

Kalodin · 03/09/2023 06:18

Hey, no update! 20 week scan is next week. But I think we are going to wait for it to be a surprise now.

Late post but this is my situation! I have two boys and pregnant with my 3rd. All the nub websites have said girl- I've gotten so excited. Sneak Peek says boy.. what do you think???
