38 weeks pregnant with transverse baby

Hi all

I'm based in the UK currently 38 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby who's been lying sideway all the way. I have had lots of scan this time due to baby is on the smaller side.

What's the chance of baby turn head down at this stage?
What's the UK protocol for the case like this, do they book c section at 39+?

When I asked midwife last week, she seems to think baby still has chance to turn so we didn't discuss c section. I told her that my concern is that if I dont know baby's position when labour starts I would not know it's medical emergency and I might have lost my baby if I don't act quickly.

What's your experience with transverse baby at 38 weeks please. I have midwife appointment again tomorrow I would like to know what's the standard process if she reject to book me in for c section or another scan to confirm baby's position.

Thanks all

Mine turned. Have you got a fitness ball? I bounced the crap out of mine and DS2 didn't have a chance. I've no idea what the usual procedure is though. Sorry this is causing you stress!

Have you done all the spinning babies stuff?

Hi, yes I have a birthing ball. I'm on it a lot of time since 34-35 weeks

Yes i also went on spinning baby website followed the instructions. I believe at some point her head was down as i can feel it also those few days i can feel extra pressure on my pelvis but She's really happy lying sideway:(

I was hoping a virginal delivery like first one and scared of c section..but I want what's the best for baby of course.

Look up inversions on the spinning babies website, I managed to turn mine quite late on but she arrived at 37 weeks. Being on all fours helped too.

I had a transverse at 37 weeks. They said if I remained that way, they would book me in for a c section at 39 weeks.
I did all the spinning babies stuff and baby did eventually turn. Waters broke at 38 weeks so I thought it was all good. Turned out baby had turned the wrong way and was breech and I had an emergency section.
If you are unsure, ask for a second onion and push for a scan to check baby's position.

Happened with my 2nd and3rd I had ELCS at 37 weeks l

My second was transverse all along. I was having an ELCS anyway after a positive experience with an EMCS on my first.

Both of my sections were great, happy to answer any questions.
