12 week scan - abnormal head

Hi,

Had my 12 week scan and whilst there they really studied the head in silence, the same happened when I had an early scan 2 weeks prior. They studied in silence for minutes then said I was fine to leave. No explanation.

Now having seen the scan photos I can see a lump / bump / bulge come from the babies skull toward the front on top.

Should I be concerned? Anyone else have a similar scan and been fine?

Also worried the brain does not look the right shape.

Thanks in advance!

Usually they'd mention any concerns after the scan at this stage.. was it the NHS 12 week scan? Did they said they have any worries?

They do a lot of measurements around the head at scans so normal for them to be focused on that area more than others, but if you’re concerned why not give your midwife a call?

If this was your NHS scan they would have discussed any concerns they had with you at the appointment.

Agree with above if there were any concerns they would have told you and referred you to fetal medicine. Re the brain it can just be the angle of the picture they took. They wouldn't suspect anything abnormal and not mention it, especially with the brain. You should have a midwife appointment at about 16 weeks I think so mention it to her if you're worried still
