Hi everyone, I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant. I started spotting 2 weeks ago, very very little, literally just small streaks pink occasionally when i wiped, i had a scan at 7 weeks and all looked good with good heartbeat. My concern is i found out a few months ago i am RH negative blood type. I have previously had an abortion 10 years ago and a miscarriage 2 months ago. I’ve never had anti d injection. Should i be concerned this spotting is related to RH Neg blood? I live in Ireland and anti doesn’t seem to be given till later in pregnancy

I’m O negative, DH is O positive so I’ll have to have anti d injections in case baby is O+. I haven’t been told any risk it can cause at early stages, but talk to midwife as spotting should be checked regardless of blood type

What gestation was your miscarriage and abortion at? I had an early miscarriage and was told that it was too early to need to anti d injections.

The abortion was at 7 weeks I think and the miscarriage was at 6 weeks. When they told me my blood type a few months ago they also said there were no antibodies present so not sure what that means!

I had an abortion 5 years ago and had to get the injection as I'm O-. Experienced some bleeding with my second pregnancy and every time I bled I also had to get the injection (13 weeks onwards). The same for any bumps to belly - a shopping trolley smacked into my belly and I thought it was extreme to get the injection but had to 🤷🏼‍♀️

Might be worth a call 😊

It's not necessary to have anti-D at early gestations. I'm not sure when the cut off is though, but sure Google will tell you if you don't want to call your midwife unit.
The antibodies test is to check you don't have any antibodies which could harm the foetus, including any you might have formed in a previous pregnancy with a Rh positive baby. If this test was negative for you , that's good!

In my trust anti-d isn't given before 12 weeks.
