Mothercare at boots? or good alternative

Years ago with our first two children we would occasionally buy from mothercare as it seemed a quality like Mark's & Spencers or John Lewis certainly not the cheapest, but reliable and an idiot like myself could get advice and be confident of a purchase.

It's very early days and while I hope all goes smoothly with child number 3, I would like to get something small, practical and just gives the I care for you, love you, support you and am super excited.
Had considered a onesie, but worried a bitter reminder if it goes wrong?
Rather than just transfering money, nice dressing gown and a maternity pillow?

Suitable considerate pre birth gift, somewhere like mothercare with good quality items that you can look at pre purchase in high street store.
Nearest M&S or John Lewis is a 60 mile round trip.

Don't think mothercare exists now.

dementedpixie · 19/07/2023 07:33

Or do they have outlets in Boots? Is that what you mean?

Mothercare was my first ever audit client. The joys of the manky Watford HQ...

Next? Uniqlo at a push?

I tend to order online from M&S to my nearest food store - free delivery and returns if you don't like it. Ditto for JL to Waitrose. At least you can see it in the flesh that way.

Sorry OP .... I interpreted it that you were having your third child .... Not had my coffee yet!

In which case John Lewis is probably your best bet. Also depending on budget, since you mentioned a maternity pillow, I recommend a BBHugme. They are not cheap so your (DD/DIL?) Might not get one for themselves but i promise they are bloody amazing. I'm on my second pregnancy now and mine hasn't been put away since the first in 2020.

Oh good lord, you also said JL too far. In which case Next do lovely quality baby things and gifts too.

Goes to make coffee

Mamma's and Pappas is pretty good and have stores across the UK also some concessions within Next Stores x

I got some gorgeous baby bits for my friend at Mothercare (part of boots). I would highly recommend! 🥰

Going to see ifI can sneak off at work during lunch, large commercial vehicle makes it challenging or see if we can go out for lunch at weekend and look at Baby items at nearest large city shopping complex.
I think the pregnancy pillow and spoil partner with lunch and some nice things.

Didn't know you could order JL to waitrose, that is also an option

Just need to figure how to leave children with relatives while we do it.
