Band 7 Maternity Pay Query

Hi all,

My manager has still not submitted my mat pay application form and MATB1.

Because of this Payroll can't send a mat pay forecast.

Really annoying as I need to start budgeting and planning now I'm in the 3rd trimester!

Is anyone happy to share or roughly estimate what Band 7 mat pay looks like?

Bottom of the band.
Full entitlement.
Pension.
Student repayment plan 1.
Planning to spread over 12 months.

Even a ballpark figure would be helpful!

Thank you 🙏🏽

Hi,
Best way I worked out my mat leave pay in advanced was by working out my OMP (8 weeks full, 18 weeks half) to do this I had to work out my net weekly income. Then added the 31 weeks SMP and that estimated my total mat pay (estimated!)

I chose to then divide that by the months I took off which was 11 and this gave me what I should have per month, I wanted to have the same income every month. So if I got paid £2500 at the beginning when getting full pay but my estimated monthly Mat leave total per month was £1300 I'd put aside that extra £1200 money into a separate account. Then on months I got less then my estimated pay I'd pay myself to top up to the £1300 out of the other account.
It worked out for me and I ended up estimating it pretty well!

Hope that helps a little? Sorry it must look actually quite confusing 😆

...those figures I used were completely random by the way! I wouldn't be able to give a ball part even though I was on bottom band 7 when I went on Mat leave as the pay has changed since and I didn't have student loan.
