Growth Scan

I had a growth scan when I was around 29 weeks 4 days and baby came weighing at 1400g, does anyone know what this is lbs? And is that about the average weight for just shy of 30 weeks or will this be a big baby? I’m having a girl, and I already have a boy who’s now 3, he was born at 6lb 12oz. I feel like baby girl is bigger, so I’m so invested to know what she might come out weighing at 😂😅 thank you in advance

Google knows.

Yeah more than likely. Have a quick google, but I’m interested to see what others baby was weighing at 29/30 weeks and what their baby weight was when they were actually born 😅 because pregnancy is completely different for everyone, and you never know.. but you get a better insight from others pregnancies and weights etc than you would just Googling.

It’s around 3lbs. It’s slightly above the average weight at 30 weeks but it’s just an estimated weight so really wouldn’t put too much into it. My first was predicted to be a big baby and was 7lb 14oz. So pretty much average

leearodgers · 18/07/2023 18:15

Yeah absolutely I know they can only go off scans and it’s estimated! Just really interested.. but thank you for that ☺️

Growth scans are notoriously useless. Mine 'predicted' that DS would be over 8lbs, but he was born at 40+6 weighing 6lbs 6oz. Even the sonographer admitted there's a 25% margin of error 🙄🙄

katherinexix · 18/07/2023 18:25

They do allow for quite a large margin of error but I'm one of the few who's growth scans were actually spot on

justaweenamechange · 18/07/2023 19:07

Growth scans are a bit rubbish, and not many people are having scans at that particularly gestation so you probably won't get many real life comparisons.

MoandJo · 18/07/2023 19:14

I had a scan at 28+6 and he was estimated 1463g which is 3lb 4. Another scan at 32+1 this time 2219g (4lb 14) they predicted he was going to be above 9lbs and they were right. He was one week early and weighed 9lbs 10!

blodyn91 · 18/07/2023 19:38

Growth scans suggested a 9lb baby, came out 7lbs13, long and skinny! 😅

Thank you everyone! I guess you don’t really know or can rely on growth scans! Crazy how it can be completely different or spot on. It’s generally so interesting! I never had a growth scan with my first, so bc I am this time and I felt bigger than I did with my first o was so interested to see if if she was weighing bigger at this stage. Pregnancy altogether is crazy! It baffles me how amazing ot is 😅😂 I can’t wait now with less than 7 weeks left!

I had a growth scan last week which is showing DC1 having a large head circumference of 320.8mm at 31 weeks. I’m so anxious and panicked as they have referred me to fetal medicine.. I just hope it’s a error in reading :(

Anjie80 · 19/07/2023 10:13

I had a scan at 28 weeks and she weighed 2lb3oz have another scan next week when I'll be 31 weeks
