Hey all,
I’m currently 31 weeks + 4 pregnant with first DC. So far pregnancy has been great and nothing worrying other than risk of pre-eclampsia.

Last week at my community midwife appointment, my fondal height had jumped from 30cm- 35cm and so I was referred for a growth scan.

I had the growth scan late last week, and they measured my amniotic fluid at 9.6! The registrar said it should between 2-8. I wasn’t worried until I googled and have been panicking since.

I’ve also been referred to fetal medicine (scan tomorrow) as DC’s head is 320.8mm and is >99th percentile!

I haven’t had an inch of sleep all weekend and am so scared of what the outcome will be tomorrow. Has anyone had anything similar? Following threads has kept my anxiety at bay but at night my thoughts get the worst of me.

I can feel baby movement plenty despite having an anterior placenta and have felt generally well in myself. 😔😔😔😔

I had a large baby & polyhydramnious. I had a CS but baby was perfect

I had polyhydramnios, and after extra scans was told my baby was going to be particularly large, much larger than average.

My baby was 7lbs - not large! I did have vast amounts of amniotic fluid though, when they broke my waters for me. They had wanted me to try for vaginal birth but it ended up c-section.

Such a relief to hear! Did you have to get induced or advised for C-section? I’ve been told that I am at risk of having umbilical cord prolapse. I see fetal medicine tomorrow so hopefully have more answers

I really am hoping that it’s just an un-trusty growth scan and nothing serious comes out of this. I can feel baby kick and move plenty. I think baby does hiccup quite a bit- hope that isn’t anything to do with the excess fluid

I’ve had exactly the same. Even down to the hiccups! What was your outcome @NikkiKaur?

Really unsure whether to have a C-section or not. I don’t want an induction so my only choices are a ‘natural’ birth or C-section. The large head in particular is worrying me!

Hey! Baby boy arrived on 24th September at 10lb 7oz. Thankfully he’s absolutely fine no concerns and I had a NVD! I was able to labour normally and delivered him vaginally with an episiotomy. Honestly it was so amazing n totally worth it! I did it on gas and air only and believed that my body had the ability to birth my baby. Hiccups are completely fine- he still hiccups once a day but I do believe his hiccups have strengthened his diaphragm and he’s brilliant at burping for me after every feed. Best of luck

I didn’t have extra fluid but my sons head was measuring massive and was told he was around 7lb , he was 9lb 8 when born 🫣and didn’t look out of proportion.
I had a natural smooth birth but it did nearly end up in a c section due to cord wrapped and struggled to come down but I went into labour naturally an hour before induction was due to begin.
