I had a 37 week growth scan yesterday. I had one at 26 weeks, 32 and 37 weeks . The thigh bone (femur length) is now off the bottom end of the chart and not in the 'normal ' range .. consultant said not to worry and probably fine but I can't help but worry about a possible reason why? I'll attach the growth measurements so you can see what I mean. Anybody else have shorter femur length on their scans and all be okay?

The later stage growth scans are not very accurate any more, usually compromised by the baby's position so they can't really measure properly. My femur length percentile has been dropping since 32w scan (having regular growth scan due to GD), but the sonographers said at this stage FL doesn't really matter much any more. HC and AC are what they focus more on. Think what matters more is the baby's weight. FL has plenty of time to catch up in terms of growth after they are born. 65mm vs 50% percentile level of 70mm is not really off that much after all if you think about it.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

Hi, I am in exactly the same position with it being off the chart but everything else in normal range. Could you please tell me your experience?

Hello! Sorry I've just seen this
My baby is 7 months old now and he's perfectly fine ! His legs are normal and if anything is taller than average ! Looking back on my other baby scans they are also shorter on the femur length and they are now very tall! good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and labour ! I'm sure your baby is absolutely fine too ❤️

Thank you so so much for the update, you’ve just made my day. I’ve been worried sick as this is all new to me. I waited for 3 years for this pregnancy and the first and second trimester were a magical time for me. Then the worry about the femur length begun and my mind has been spiralling out of control. Reading positive outcome like yours really makes me feel so much better. Im so happy you had your baby and wish you all the best❤️

At what week you got delivered

We had the same with my LB who is now a year old and perfect in every way! We are both quite short which in our case I suspect was the main factor. I did also have GD which did start to begin to affect the placenta towards the end - they explained that sometimes this can lead to baby prioritising head growth over legs (I was induced at 39 weeks due to the GD and no other reason in the end, my birth was really positive) x

Some babies just have big heads I wouldn't worry.. My ds head is big I always struggle getting his shirts off.
Also short limbs again they may just be shorter than average, I have short arms and legs doesn't mean anything.
Best not to worry about measurements unless they tell you there is a concern but half the time it's a load of bollocks anyway.

I have this same problem, femur length 3rd percentile whilst tummy 43rd and head 70th. Going for a second scan (38 weeks tomorrow) & fingers crossed it's changed. So worrying to have this curveball so late in the game, but the responses on here and reddit are very very encouraging!
