Hi Everyone,

We have been trying for a baby properly for around 3 months. I have been monitoring my cycle for the last 6 months. It generally lasts for 5 days in length. Ovulation occurs on different days in the cycle most months, days 12/15 or 19, with the luteal phase remaining much the same 11-13 days.

The length of my cycle varies from 25-31 days. One month it went to 35,but I had a huge amount of stress that specific month.

Has anyone had similar cycles and got a bfp?Is this an unusual pattern-should I see someone? Petrified it might affect my fertility.

Will appreciate your input.

Thanks.

For me it didn’t seem to affect my ability to get pregnant. Mine varied between 27-30/40 days, with the 40 day cycle being a month where I was super stressed. What it did mean was that I really had no idea when I ovulated so we had to have sex every other day from about day 10 onwards… Which was ok the first month and then less fun 😬

However, I can only speak from my experience; medically speaking I’m not sure!

Hiya, I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and your periods are WAY more regular than mine were! My 2 cycles before falling pregnant were 54 days, then had a chemical, then this one (had private tests for PCOS but apparently not that so it's a mystery), Wouldn't worry at all about that for you though, as long as you're ovulating and DTD a lot before and during you should be fine! I would just try and limit stress as the first month we tried I know I was so stressed and it didn't happen

I have PCOS and cycles ranged mostly 29 days - 35 days. Conceived first go this time and have had two previous accidents.

I think as long as your ovulating it's fine! 🤗

I’m another with PCOS, cycles before I got pregnant were anywhere between 14 and 100+ days, and had never been any better. It took us a couple of years but I did fall pregnant naturally eventually. We were meant to get fertility treatment but y’know covid so by the time we actually got seen, I fell pregnant that same week!
if you’re ovulating, that’s a very good sign. Speak to your gp if you’re concerned re the irregular periods.

Not sure if this is reassuring, but my cycle is like clockwork and yet I found out I have very low egg reserves. We ended up needing IVF to conceive.

So just to say - the regularity of your cycle is no indication of your fertility. It's more challenging to time getting it on with your fertile period if you're not sure when it is, of course, but keep using the ovulation tests and chances are you'll get there. Wishing you lots of luck!

Just want to thank ye all for the hugely reassuring messages. I really appreciate them. Thanks for taking the time. I am finding this whole journey beyond stressful. xxx

Your cycles are within what the NHS considers normal but you could still ask GP for blood tests? I was having irregular cycles up to 36 days and GP did bloods and all fine apart from low iron. I’m now 9 weeks pregnant

I was TTC for 10 months before I fell pregnant. My cycles ranged from 23 days to 30 days. The ovulation date changed each month. As long as you aren’t missing periods all together then it shouldn’t be an issue when you ovulate. You’ll just have to track it well and make sure you’re hitting the ovulation date.

Inmydreams88 · 18/07/2023 13:34

And also my periods only lasted 5 days too.

nonmerci99 · 18/07/2023 15:59

3 months is not a long time to be TTC without results! Remember that 90% of couples will conceive after 12 months of trying. In my case, it took 4 cycles each time, and I worried each time that it wasn't going to happen.

It is a stressful experience, but the odds are in your favour.

DahliaRose · 18/07/2023 16:07

I had the most regular 28 day cycle ever. Never missed a period in my life even when I came off contraception my period went straight back to a regular cycle.

I tried for a baby for over 5 years and had unexplained infertility so even people with regular cycles can struggle.

Thanks again everyone. Ye have all been so helpful. Ttc has made me a vulnerable mess 🤣
