The Pill and Preganancy??

Can anyone please help put my mind at rest. I am currently on the Pill and coming off soon to try for our second child. Does anyone know if its safe to start trying straight away ie. that same month or should we wait a couple of months.

Are there risks that the baby could have problems / defects etc? or that i could have a miscarriage?

I would wait for at least a couple of periods so that your cycle was regulated. Are you already taking folic acid? If not I would start now and wait a couple of months.

There is no risk to the baby in TTC straight away, but it will be more difficult to work out your dates if your cycle has not had a chance to get back to regularity.

There is no reason to wait. I didnt and its only to work out dates. Which you can do by using the first day of your last period as normal

I spoke to my Dr about this before I came off the pill and they said there was no reason to wait. I was lucky as it only took 3 months for me and now 24 weeks. Best of luck

We didnt and pregnant straight away with DD no probs with defects etc.

My friend got pregnant twice before reaching her first cycle coming off the pill. Has two healthy girls.

We got pregnant straight after coming off pill. DS3 is 3 weeks old and perfect!!

All good to read as I also have come off the pill and decided to go for it and start trying for number 2. My daughters just turned 1 and I can't wait, but i did take a year the first time (we weren't trying that hard, but still). Fingers crossed it doesn't take long. Before i remember too much how horrendous my last pregnancy was at times and get put off... Have you had any feedback on people saying how long it took to get pregnant with number 2 from number 1. Alot of people have said it didn't take them as long, not sure if there's a valid reason for that?
