Progesterone Pessaries

Hi, has anyone ever taken progesterone pessaries in pregnancy before and what was your experience with them?

I am currently on Cyclogest 400mg per day of progesterone pessaries due to a short cervix (this is due to a LLETZ procedure a few years ago to remove some pre-cancerous cells)

Has anyone actually carried to full term on them? I am worried because research suggests they only increase your chance of not having a severe pre-term birth by 25%?

Thanks

Hi!

My first baby was born premature at 33 weeks following constant (I mean it, 100s a day) mild Braxton-Hicks from 20 weeks.

In my second pregnancy I started to get the Braxton-Hicks contractions again at 23 weeks. My cervix was long and closed but given my history I was started on Cyclogest. I don't know if it was coincidence or the pessaries, but either way the contractions died down and only occurred sporadically again until 38 weeks, when baby was born.

So as to whether anyone's ever carried to term on them - yes!
