Consultant appointment - 16 weeks

Hi all,

I have my consultant appt next week and I'll be 16 weeks (consultant led due to IVF and bmi)

What happens at the 16 week appt, presumably no scan? I am panicking that my symptoms seem to have totally disappeared the last few weeks or so.

Also, my partner can't make the appt so just trying to see what it will cover!

Thanks in advance x

I think it's slightly different at every trust but at mine they gave blood results from booking appointment (if you haven't had them yet) and they listen to baby with the Doppler.

Urine dip test
Blood pressure

And ask if you have any questions or concerns.

That's it really!

Good to know re the doppler as hopefully that'll help put my mind at rest x

Just to say though they may do a doppler or they may not. Some trusts have a policy that they don't use dopplers until 20 or even 24 weeks gestation as the heartbeat can be difficult to find and cause unnecessary distress when they can't find it. Some trusts allow midwives to use their discretion as to whether they think they will find it. So please don't worry if they don't do it. Symptoms going at 16 weeks is very normal as the first trimester is in the rear view mirror 😊

Fingers crossed you'll start feeling movement soon, all the best.

At my consultant appointment i was in and out in 5 mins, he asked a few questions about how I was ect and thats it. I had bloods and urine dipped to. Also im 23 and my midwife didnt do the dopler at 16 weeks.

If you're worried ring the mau, they more than likely see you, i went up and they gave me a scan at 18 weeks.

I think it was just BP and pee in a cup if I remember. They may have had a listen as well. It was quite straightforward.
