Headaches during pregnancy

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have been getting the worst headaches/migraines for the past month or so. I get them every other day or so. I drink lots of water. Sleep as much as I can but nothing seems to help other than taking Tylenol 1000mg. My doc said Tylenol is safe but I’m having doubts. I question the safety of all medications. This is all making me miserable. On top of that I’ve been constipated. If anyone can suggest anything that would be great. I’m wondering if I should go to a chiropractor.

Have you talked to your midwife or doctor about this? It could be hormonal but with the frequency of the headaches and migraine-like pain you should at least get your blood pressure checked.

Yep I had them really bad a few weeks ago. You've just reminded me - id completely forgotten. I'm coming up to 24 weeks now and haven't had them in a few weeks thankfully !

I’m 18 weeks too and have been having really bad headaches since about 10 weeks. Some medications don’t cross the placenta so they won’t affect the baby. I was told you can take triptans whilst pregnant so might be worth a try for you

Thanks for the replies everyone. My BP is normal. My doc says stress is causing my headaches. Who knows. Just hoping it won’t last a long time. Triptans - never heard of it. I’ll look into that. Thank you!

I had terrible headaches and migraines from about 14 weeks to 20 weeks with my last pregnancy. I just used ice packs on my head and the only thing that took the edge off was taking caffeine with paracetamol. In the end I was so desperate someone recommended a homeopath and I have to say despite skepticism within a week of taking the pills the headaches stopped. I don't know if it worked or just coincidence! (It was covid so chiropractors etc were not available.)
I am pregnant again and I think if I get them again I will try acupuncture first then go back to the homeopath if that doesn't work. Good Luck!
