Uterine Rupture

My uterus ruptured during labour with DS2 after going into labour spontaneously (trialling VBAC after EMCS), currently finding it really difficult to come to terms with knowing I may not be able to have any more children again and also just the trauma of what happened.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation and is willing to share their story? Anyone gone on to have a safe/healthy pregnancy after having a rupture? I’ve been searching but it seems not many people talk about it after it actually happens and I feel a little lost with it!

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me asking but could you explain more what happened and how long since your first please? I’m currently trying to decide if I would like to try for a VBAC or not.
thanks in advance

I had a uterine rupture with dc2.
I'd had an emcs with dc1.
3 years later I tried vbac for dc2, but fast dilation (0-10 cm in 2 hrs) caused a haemorrhage and uterine rupture culminating in a c section under general anaesthetic.

Going into my second pregnancy
I had not desire for any more chikdren (I was in my 40s), so I honestly can't remember what the advice re: further children.

@BClarkee My first little one was born in August 2020 and my second May 2023 so just a few months off three years between them. First baby was emergency section because of his heart rate and positioning. Second baby I was trialling a VBAC, went into spontaneous labour at 40+1, progressing really well I was 7cm about 3 hours after getting to the hospital, around this time I started to experience the most horrific pain after my contractions finished and I had to scream through the pain, midwife thought it was because my waters where bulging so much so she broke them but that didn’t ease anything at all. They arranged for me to have an epidural to help and this is when they realised something was up, baby was having consistent decelerations and my blood pressure was on the floor, consultant decided I was a Cat 1 emergency section and he was delivered within 15 minutes of the decision being made. When they went inside I’d had a full rupture along my previous scar and then down the left side into my cervix and baby was in my abdomen, we are both very lucky to be here and it was an absolutely traumatising experience. Baby was in SCBU for nearly a week x
