Missed miscarriage and d&c

Hi all, I am currently experiencing a missed miscarriage after four early miscarriages. It turned out adhesions were causing the early MCs and I had those treated successfully. Was very nervous to get pregnant again (at 42) and haven’t felt right in this pregnancy despite having lots of morning sickness.
i went for a panorama test last week, after seeing a strong heartbeat at 6 wks, to be told the foetus had stopped growing, probably three weeks ago 💔 as I had no bleeding or baiting I elected for a D&C because I was told the sac was quite large. I am not afraid of the pain but I have young children here and we are quite a distance from the hospital so was wary of them becoming aware if things became difficult.
the d&c was scheduled for 10 days later due to bed shortages, which is this Friday. However I have now started to spot lightly and am having cramps. If the spotting remains light will they still do the d&c does anyone know? My husband can’t take any more time off so I will be here with the children on my own and we don’t have anyone close by to call if I ran into trouble.
I will talk to the EPU tomorrow but I just want to have an idea of their likely position before doing so. Thanks all xx

I'm sorry you're going through this. I had a similar experience in 2020. For me the spotting didn't last long so I didn't mention it but I don't think it would stop them doing the d&c. I hope Friday goes as well as it can xx

Hi, just here to give you a unmumsnetty hug and support. I'm going in for surgical management of a missed miscarriage tomorrow. I hope it all goes well for you.

I'll ask them the question about bleeding and post back in the morning in case it helps you.

I can't think it would prevent them being able to carry out the procedure. I was given an ERPC (under GA) already bleeding because of a miscarriage that hadn't completed properly.

I hope it all goes smoothly - I was able to take my phone in and play on phone speaker a relaxing playlist I'd downloaded.

Hey @MsStar247 I hope it goes ok for you tomorrow. I was in at 7am and out by 1pm. Everyone was so lovey.
I think the answer is yes if there's a bit of bleeding but you probably got an answer from your hospital by now.

Thanks so much @RiotC. The spotting and pain really intensified overnight and after taking the tablets first thing this morning I passed three fist-sized clots/tissue at home. I went in anyway and still met the criteria for the d&c but as I was bleeding heavily it seemed likely that I would pass it myself so I took a chance and came home with difene. Feeling so much better now so hopefully nothing will have been retained and I can spend some proper time with my children over the next few weeks, I have been in such limbo for the past 10 days. How are you feeling 24 hours on?
