I was 6weeks when i was having a miscarriage i was bleeding. I have been bleeding since Friday and I had an internal scan on Saturday there was nothing there and the womb lining was thin. He said to do another pregnancy test in a week and if its positive then its possible its eptopic. I don't really know what to do now I feel anxious incase it is. Do I just wait what do I do?

I'm sorry that this is happening to you.Who did you see? Was it at an early pregnancy assessment unit? Did they take bloods?
If there was any chance that it could be ectopic, you should have had bloods taken to check the amount of HCG in your blood,as it is one of the ways that ectopics are diagnosed. One blood test, then another 48 hours later.
If you didn't attend an EPAU please see if your GP will refer you.

Classic symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy are prune juice like bleeding, and shoulder tip pain. If you have either of these, you need to be seen urgently at A&E or an EPAU.
Fingers crossed for you.

Hello. Essentially you just have to wait I'm afraid. I know it's rough. Have you had any blood tests done? And what kind of scan was it, was it an internal one or external?

I think if the person doing the scan wasn't concerned, then try not to be too anxious.

Sofia2442 · 10/07/2023 19:48

Thanks for your reply. It was an internal one. No bloods done but I got a gp app on Wednesday.

It was a private internal scan. Unfortunately the nhs maternity people told to wait it out at home and to take a pregnancy test 2weeks later and speak to them if it was positive. No symptoms like what you have told but just cramps period pain thank you for your reply

Ok. I think if you are in any immediate trouble then the internal scan would have shown it - my external scan showed nothing, but the internal scan showed up the ectopic/bleeding and they did surgery that day.

Definitely ask your GP about the 48hr apart blood tests, as that will show what your hormone levels are doing.

Lillybobs86 · 10/07/2023 19:56

I Would go back asap and demand blood tests. That's ridiculous they are leaving you to see a GP on Wednesday, I had an ectopic last year and it's life threatening please push for more investigations.
My bleeding was not bright red it was a different colour more purple and I never had shoulder tip pain.
Have you had cramping?
That's very bad they are leaving you for a week maybe ask for a second opinion x

WhiteClover · 10/07/2023 19:57

Also how horrible going for the private scan and having bad news. I'm so sorry xx

Sofia2442 · 10/07/2023 20:00

My bleeding is bright red like a period. I did think surely the internal scan would of picked up something by then but I will defo ask about the blood tests.

The internal scan won't alway see until it's big enough / reached high enough hcg, I was having internal scans for 2 weeks before they saw my ectopic in my tube

Sofia2442 · 10/07/2023 20:06

Hmm I see that makes sense. The private person told me to come again end of the week but I really don't fancy paying more on private really hope after speaking to the GP the nhs they take me more seriously ☹️

I will ask about the bloods. Do wonder if I do when it would be picked up on the internal scan.

Good luck, hopefully you won't need any interventions just the blood tests x

I wouldn't go back there and I would contact your local EPU. I hope everything goes ok keep us updated good luck x

I had ectopic surgery 2 month ago, I had bright red blood (unusual for me as period are very short and "dry") burst of very bad periods cramps especially the left but no shoulder pain, they did blood test every 2 days for 2 weeks. You should push for blood test as if spotted really early ( and I do mean very very early they might save the fallopian tube), could also be a bleeding cyst (they thought it was that for me as the sac was stuck to the ovary).
I any case because I didn't want to cause a fuss (to be fair I had a coil on and refused to believe I could be pregnant) it dragged on and I was hemorrhaging quite heavily by the time they operated so If I were you I would insist a little bit on being look after.

BabyHope1 · 10/07/2023 20:57

I had something exactly like that last year. It wasn't ectopic, but a chemical. Tests were both positive and negative. It took a bit for hcg to drop and stop fluctuating. Nothing visible on scan. In a week or two I started bleeding like a period.
Hope you can put your mind at ease as soon as possible.

Sofia2442 · 13/07/2023 20:59

Update GP refused to give me blood test and said its unlikely I am having an eptopic and to come to her again after a week (if I am still testing positive). I am now testing negative so no need to go back to GP and no longer bleeding so I think il be OK. Thank u everybody.
