Pregnancy insomnia

23 weeks with my second baby and suffering from pregnancy insomnia. It’s driving me mad! I suffered from insomnia with my first born but I remember it being much later on than this. I forgot how boring and lonely it is.

Anyone else currently in the same boat? Do you have any tips?

I feel your pain - I’m only 7 weeks and am EXHAUSTED all day but really struggling to sleep at night. Takes ages to drop off and then I’m awake for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night 😓

i also don’t remember this in my first pregnancy - just remember getting up to pee a lot and struggling to get comfy with a giant bump in my third trimester.

i get up, have a wee, go downstairs for a drink or a snack then get into bed and listen to a podcast. I find the wander stops me feeling restless and trapped and the podcast eases the boredom and takes the pressure off getting back to sleep

hope it passes for you soon!

Currently 36 weeks and have had insomnia all the way through the pregnancy. I find sitting up and reading my kindle in the dark helps me to get back to sleep quicker but no idea how to actually stop waking up in the first place!

I would wake up for a few hours in the middle of the night, very annoying.

I would just listen to a podcast or something. Or a lot of the time I would just get really comfy and lay with my eyes closed. At least you're still giving your body and brain a rest. Getting stressed about it makes everything worse.

I started taking 600mg of magnesium 30 mins before bed and that helped massively, took about a week to work.

36 weeks and keep waking at 4am or 5am to start the day. Not fun when you have a toddler who sleeps til 6:30 and no longer day naps!!!
