Hello 🙂, so I had a root canal this week, short version... I have had numbing injections for a treatment, an xray and now antibiotics (plus I need to take paracetamol as I am in alot of pain)

I am 5w+4 so i'm very early and have been trying to be careful and eat better etc, but now that I have had all of the above, I feel worried... I can't imagine how this could not be effecting things.

Basically my question is has anyone else had these sort of treatments, especially early on and everything was ok?

Local anaesthetics and xrays are safe during any stage of pregnancy, I had treatment including xrays in 2nd trimester and asked my dentist if this was OK and she assured me it was and would have still been ok if it was earlier. You're more likely to harm the baby by NOT having dental treatment were you to develop a dental disease that could affect him/her if that's any comfort!

Also quick question what are the antibiotics? Did you tell your dentist you are pregnant? If not then you should ensure you do in future so that anything they prescribe is suitable during pregnancy.

Thank you for replying @lucylulululu and thank you yes that makes sense. I did say I was very early on in pregnancy and they prescribed amoxicillan?

If you had a dental problem/ pain/ infection then the benefits of this treatment will far outweigh the risks.

@Ladyinpink1 Yes amoxicillin is safe during pregnancy and is listed as such on the nhs page. Hope this eases your worries 😊
