Positive pregnancy test two months after miscarriage

Hello there. I just wondered if anyone had a similar experience and might know what is going on. I had a missed miscarriage on May 6th - I was nine weeks, but the baby had not grown beyond six. It came out naturally and I bled for about ten days. 32 days later I got my first period (my cycle is usually 29 days) and although it was heavy everything seemed back to normal.

I monitored ovulation and it occurred like clockwork on day 14 of my first post-mmc cycle, so we tried again. Then this week I get a positive pregnancy test - faint but unmistakeable, on a pink dye boots test. It is still visible now. I could not believe my luck but then my period came three days late. I have found it surprisingly devastating as I never thought we would get pregnant so soon, if at all - but the test and my body seemed to be telling me otherwise.

I wonder if anyone knows what could have happened, given that the miscarriage occurred two months ago. Could the baby's hormone still be there? I am pretty sure that I tested a few weeks back and it was negative as expected. I also did a test yesterday and it was negative.

Thank you!

I’m so sorry you had to go through that 💕

talking from experience I would say if you tested positive then you’re period came 3 days late I would say you had a chemical pregnancy. It’s a real pregnancy but you lose the baby before you get to 6 weeks.

If you have had a period and ovulated since the MMC it will definitely have been a new pregnancy especially if a strong positive.

I’m so sorry 😞. I had 2 chemicals (at nearly 6 weeks) in a row then the following cycle conceived again and am now 33 weeks so it doesn’t mean you won’t have a viable pregnancy

Thank you so much for your reply, and sorry you had two chemicals, so wonderful that it worked out after that. I didn't know that chemical pregnancies could result in the period being just three days late - I thought it would be a lot more, so this is interesting. I also worried that my cycle length has permanently changed after the miscarriage, hence 32 days. But yes, it definitely could be chemical - I've had some clotting and it feels heavier than normal. It does seem very strange that the previous baby would still be showing up after nine weeks... Do you think a chemical pregnancy might show up positive on a morning test and negative in the afternoon? That's what mine did. I guess it could be because there is so little hormone in the urine at that point.

Hi, same happened to me. Mc in April, pregnant again straight away, mc again and a BFP this morning. So basically I'm pregnant for the 3rd time since March! 🙃 praying this one sticks.
If u have a bfp and period 3 days later, its a chemical. That's what happened to me with the second pregnancy but my tested got fainter then AF arrived a week later.

Oh wow - thank you, and so sorry for your rollercoaster too. Sending loads of good wishes. I really thought this BFP was the lost baby saying hi, it's so strange to think it was a new one. Jeez. What a journey but it gives me some hope.

Ps it took me a year to conceive the baby I lost so it's all so unknown, how long it takes me to get pregnant - that's prob why I didn't think I was.

@Monkeyportrait I have 3 kids already. It took me 2 years to get pregnant in March but then iv done it straight away since 🤷‍♀️ ur more fertile after a loss so get to it lol.

Will do! I think that's one of the crazy things - I feel like if I don't get pregnant in this "super fertile" bit I will lose my chance entirely - like it's extra pressure! What if you only get three fertile months and each one ends in a chemical etc - I can drive myself mad! Breathe... Thank you!

I had 2 chemicals misscarriages one oct last year and then again march this year both under 6 weeks, im now 17 weeks pregnant I got pregnant staight after the miscarriage march without a period. You are more fertile after a missicarriage so that's probably why you got pregnant staight after, but definitely would say if you tested negative it would have been a new pregnancy for you. Have you tested again? Since bleeding? X

Thanks, and I'm so glad you had good news after yours. I'm going to test again in the morning just to see whether there are only traces of it with first wee..
