Doula Experience

Hello!

I am 23 weeks pregnant and I recently hired a Doula a couple of weeks ago… It took a week after I made payment for them to set up a WhatsApp group and since then we’ve only really had one fairly brief conversation on WhatsApp.

I’m just wondering if this is standard with Doulas and they just become more involved the further the pregnancy progresses or if they are usually in fairly regularly contact?

Would just be interesting to see other peoples experiences with Doulas from the point of hiring until the birth so I can see what the standard practice is! Feels a bit as though I’ve had to follow things up in order to get much contact so far but perhaps this is normal? I’ve paid a fair amount of money so just want to make sure I’m getting what I paid for!

Any feedback would be amazing! Thank you! X

It depends what you signed up for really. My friend is a Doula and offers different packages at different prices, each of which have different levels of contact and services. So what did your doula say you'd be getting?

I’ve signed up for the birth package which includes a couple of antenatal sessions, the birth and a postnatal visit plus they will come to appointments if I need and can contact them at any time with questions etc.

Just not sure of how the process is meant to go/ feel…

Look into your package and the agreed contact point dates

Hi love, I'm a doula and would be happy to have some conversations via text messaging. Free of charge x
