Pre-eclampsia

37 weeks pregnant, 4th pregnancy but 2nd child.
My 1st I developed pre-eclampsia towards the end of my pregnancy (was kept in hospital and induced because of it)
out of the blue this week I’ve started swelling in my legs daily, last night they had swollen to the point they felt tight and we’re gonna pop!
I had a funny turn yesterday where I went lightheaded, nauseas, shaky and felt weak.
my hands swell over night and are so tight in the mornings I can’t clench a fist or bend my fingers.
does this sound like something I need to make them aware of? I’m being left to go to full term which is really making me anxious.
I have a high bmi, obviously previous Pre-E and my mother also suffered with it.
also had reduced movements today which I’m about to ring about shortly but they make you feel so shit when You ring as if you’re making trouble for them.

Definitely doing the right thing by calling and in no way are you causing trouble. Midwives are available 24/7 for any issue big or small and this is something that needs to be reviewed straight away. They will take you very seriously so please don't worry about that x

Definitely ring! Even if it’s nothing they won’t make you feel silly for doing so.

Absolutely ring or go to the hospital. I had pre eclampsia on two of my pregnancies and in my own experience it's taken very seriously. At 37 weeks you are almost there so it's great that you've gotten so far without any symptoms. Best of luck

Get to the hospital ASAP. These sound like the symptoms I had with preeclampsia. I had an emergency c-section within 24 hours of arriving at the hospital to get checked. Lucky I went in! Don't wait on it or get fobbed off. Don't ring, just go.

How are you @Anonymoususer456?

Anonymoususer456 · 04/07/2023 19:02

@mumtotwox baby is fine and so am I. They said pulse was slightly high when I came in but I just have to wait to be discharged now, nothing has been said about the swelling I’m having.

I had similar symptoms and rang my midwife she said go to the hospital. I met her there. I was admitted and had DS 3 weeks and 1 day early by emergency C section. My blood pressure was through the roof. Turns out my baby was almost 9 lb and my midwife told me if he had been full term or a week over as my first 2 DC were he would have been over 10lb. So I dodged a bullet there.
