No 16 week appointment or 20 week

This is my first pregnancy, I had my booking appointment, 12 week scan and my blood tests etc and I've had the results from my blood tests and measurements and they are good. I am 16 weeks pregnant today but I've had no 16 week appointment. I rang the antenatal team last week who said they'd contact the midwife as they are the ones who book the appointments, I've tried to ring my midwife team but I get no answer so have left a message but it's just concerning. They recently got reviewed as inadequate by CQC and this has me worried. Does anyone have any info or thoughts of what I should do?

I have no 20 week scan booked yet but I do have antenatal clinic booked for in 6 weeks but have no idea what this is for or how long I'llbe there etc. I just have no idea and I know the NHS is stretched but if this is now I dread to this about what might not get done when I am due to have the baby.

Keep trying to contact your midwives to get the 16 week booked in. My midwife will always book the next appointment at the end of the current one, so once you're in again ask if you can book the next on there and then? In terms of 20 week scan this was arranged by my hospital after the 12 week, separate from community midwives. So maybe ring maternity outpatients at your hospital and to see what's going on with getting it booked.

I think that's unacceptable even in current climate. You need to chase, chase, chase for your next appointment and then if possible I would move hospital.

Is there another hospital near you?

Thats unacceptable - keep chasing and escalate if needed. For reference I’m 14 weeks and got my 16 week appointment date though at my booking appointment, and already have the date for my 20 week scan (and additional consultations to test for gestational diabetes and some stuff to do with being rhesus negative).

Thank you, I thought I was being paranoid, the nearest maternity hospital after this is over hour away but is run by the same NHS Trust so I don't have much desire to change to that one but I am considering one an hour and a half away which is with a different NHS Trust

Thank you I will keep trying and will try to find a number for maternity outpatients. To chase up my 20 week scan. Luckily my boss is very understanding and can see on the online app nothing has been booked so if they book something last minute he has no problem with it.

I had a terrible experience with my local midwifery team - missed so many appointments, either because they could squeeze me in until weeks later or because they'd cancel at the last minute. So, 12 wk booking was over the phone, 16 wk appointment was done at 21 wks, no 25 wk appointment, 28 wk appointment at 31 wks. I never saw/spoke to the same midwife twice. I had to repeat my blood tests because they were lost. One showed anaemia, but it took 2 weeks to receive the results, and another week for a prescription to be sent through to the pharmacy. Luckily scans were via a hospital, not through the midwifery team, so all on time.

Eventually I decided that this was harming my baby so changed to a different location, slightly further away. It feels like a private service - I'm so cared for and they have managed to see me on the day when I've had some abnormal events. If you're unhappy, just change. I should have done it so much sooner. I prefer to travel and know that my baby is being cared for. I'm only concerned about after birth, because they don't offer home visits to my area. I can change back to local team, but (perhaps naively...) still feel that I'd rather travel to be seen.

My 16 weeks was done over the phone and the next one was 24 weeks (in person). My midwife has been fantastic that’s just how they do it at my trust. Then I had one at 28 weeks and 31 weeks. My next one is next week at 34 weeks.
