Hearing from midwives

Hello, I self referred to the midwives last Thursday, just wondering how long it takes to hear from them? I'm 6+3 today 😊

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LoveBluey · 04/07/2023 12:26

I think I heard from them at about 10 weeks with a booking appointment and at that appointment they gave me my 12week scan appointment.
It probably varies a bit between trusts

Our GP based midwife doesn't see women until 4 weeks after their 12 week scan.

Izzycharlieollie · 04/07/2023 12:49

It says on the website they'll see me between 8-10 weeks

Every trust is different. Here I had to self refer by phone (did so at 6 weeks) and got an appointment date for just gone 10 weeks there and then. On here I’ve noticed that many trusts don’t give hardly any notice so be prepared for that. I got my 12 weeks scan date in the post after this appointment which I had at 12+4. 8-11 weeks is the normal to have the booking in appointment and 12-14 weeks for the first scan

I referred myself at 4 weeks and heard from the midwife at 7 weeks when she booked me in for my booking appointment at 8 weeks. I think it all depends on where you are in the country.

You wouldn't see your midwife until 16 weeks here. Booking appointment to be done at the 12 week scan which you self refer to.

helloooitsmeee · 04/07/2023 14:32

It took about 10 days for my booking in appointment, and dating scan appointment to come through after I did my self referral :)

Whataretheodds · 04/07/2023 16:47

I had a booking in appointment just before 8 weeks, it was arranged 2 weeks before. I self-referred as soon as I got a positive test (day of missed period) because of my history.

They are busy so it can take a while. Booking in appointments are usually done between 8-10 weeks so you have a while yet.

twoandcooplease · 04/07/2023 20:21

God I remember the wait feeling like forever from when I took the test
My telephone booking app was 8/9wk

AllAboardTootToot · 04/07/2023 20:32

I called at around 5 weeks, heard from her the week later and booked in for 10th August. She’s so nice and available via WhatsApp’s too for any questions etc.

Mummyboy1 · 04/07/2023 20:41

Its going to depend on the trust. I think I self referred when I was around 5 weeks and saw a midwife around 7 weeks.

Peony654 · 05/07/2023 14:35

I self referred at 5 weeks, had an email yesterday (7 weeks) confirming which centre id been seen at. It said I should hear from them at 8 werks
