My SIL is due to give birth any day - my partner and I don’t have any children so I’m looking for advice on a nice, thoughtful & useful gift to take her & her husband when we visit?

Food

Definitely food. Best gift I received was a massive box of homemade frozen brownies.

I had a basket of little snacks, for use when feeding baby. Honestly they were amazing through night feeds. M&S white chocolate chip cookies are absolutely amazing during a 2am feed

Cook new parents meal box or voucher
Just Eat/Deliveroo voucher
home baking (brownies etc)
gift basket full of snacks
gift basket with nice cheeses
pamper gift basket
baby hand and/or foot print kit

A thermal mug. One thing I never anticipated about being a new parent was how impossible it was to successfully consume a hot drink with a little one who is breastfed on demand (no judgement if this isn’t their choice! But not being able to hand DS over for feeds definitely made this gift even more appreciated 😂).

I often give nice hand cream - having been caught out as a new mum by the horrid chapped hands with all the hand washing from nappy changes etc. l'Occitane Shea butter hand cream is pricey but lasts ages and is a bit of a treat. Still on my Christmas list many years on!

COOK vouchers
Hanging out their laundry
Hoovering
Bring fresh fruit
Size 1 nappies

People always gift you the fun stuff like toys and clothes and so parents you're left buying just the boring stuff like nappies and wipes!
