Pelvic girdle pain?! 24 weeks and in agony!

I started with hip pain around two weeks that was much worse on exertion (I mean just a 10 minutes walk!) But it's now spread to my groin and is like a stabbing/burning sensation. If I move the wrong way it will trigger it and that will be it for the rest of the day. Called the midwives last week still waiting to hear back. Could it be PGP?

Sounds like pelvic girdle pain, mine got bad with a burning pain around 20 weeks.

Do reach out to your midwife, they can put you in touch with physiotherapists but be aware that it takes weeks/months for your referral to come through.

In the meantime, there’s lots of good exercises on YouTube for people with PGP (which in some parts of the world is called SPD).

The basics for getting through this are; don’t over do it, keep your legs together when getting in and out of cars, don’t walk too far and also don’t sit down too long, don’t spread your legs out to the side. Pelvic floor exercises will help too, so that’s a bonus reason to do them! Do buy a support band - get yourself on Amazon!

Oh and the NHS advice page even has some sex tips… god bless the NHS!

It may improve as baby moves around, or you may have to wait until baby arrives.
Don’t try and power through the pain - I did that and ended up fainting! Good luck x
