I’m 38 and just found out I’m pregnant with my second child. DH and I have been married for 12 years and due to infertility on both sides, we’ve never been able to conceive naturally until now. DD was the result of 4 cycles of IVF.
I was taking Ozempic for four months and it was having great results. Too good results as my period was late last week and now the proud owner of four positive pregnancy tests!!!! I’ve stopped taking it since I found out last week, but would it have harmed the baby? Studies showed some birth defects in animal testing.
But I’m in turmoil over it. I’ve just got my career where I want it to be, my daughter is in a great independent school and DH works away in the week with the Armed Forces. I would have to go back to work full time very soon after the birth as I’m self employed.
Plus being an older mum increases the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, miscarriage, stillbirth, birth complications etc.
But the other side of me is so excited about this miracle. Our DD would be an awesome big sister, DH is really happy and he’s a brilliant father.
One minute I’m so excited and planning our future. The next minute I’m crying and wondering if we should continue the pregnancy at all.

Id love to hear any stories (positive and negative) from older mums, children born after taking Ozempic, Mums that are barristers.
