Hi there! I was just looking for some insight on a current situation i'm having.

For context, my last period was the 20th May 2023, and I started birth control on the 15th of June - so haven't had a period.

I understand the side effects of my pill (combined) and similar to those of pregnancy which is why I am working myself up! I've been feeling so nauseous. Today (2nd July) I started spotting and have minor cramps - which could be implantation (please correct me if i am wrong, read this online) or just a side effect of my pill.

I took a pregnancy test on the 22nd of June and it was negative (it was a first response early test i believe). I was just wondering about the experiences of this test, was it too early for me to use it as it came out negative? I also used my first morning urine!

Any insight to this would be brilliant as I am quite worried. Thank you :)

You would be testing positive by now. My LMP was 31st May and I tested positive 6 days ago :)

You’d definitely be tested positive by now: my LMP was 18th May and I got positive 2 weeks ago

My last period was the exact same date as you as I tested positive on the 18th June.

23rd june sorry - baby brain is real!

If you think you’re having implantation cramps today then you would need to test again in about a week to be certain. You couldn’t get a positive test before implantation.

I would try a different pill if it’s making you nauseous (and you aren’t pregnant).

Thank you for your response! Just wondering would implantation happen this late, as my last period was 6 weeks ago?

It’s unlikely but no contraceptives are 100% effective, women do get pregnant while taking them.

Not everyone ovulates bang on 14 days - the majority of people do, which means you can be pretty confident with a negative test.

Agree that if your worried this is implantation bleeding, worth testing again to put your mind at rest.

The bleeding recently started to pick up and is now red - kind of like my normal period (although im not on my week break). I feel like testing would be a waste, as I know the birth control pill makes periods lighter regardless. What do you think?
