So nervous for 12 week scan

Hi everyone,

I have my 12 week scan coming up on next Monday on 10th July. I’m feeling sick with nerves as I had two miscarriages before my DS and now just feeling so nervous for the scan.

We’ve not told any family or friends and I just want someone to talk to.

I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else had similar nerves before their scan and if it’s normal to feel this way? Or if there’s anyone who has a scan near the same time and we can hold each other’s hand?

Completely normal, I always thought I would relax if I got to this scan or this scan or this gestation etc I never did. Pregnancy after loss or any kind of trauma is horrible but don't let it consume you. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you

You're not alone, I was terrified before my 12 week scan with my second. I'd really convinced myself there would just be no baby on the screen or something awful had gone wrong.

As soon as I saw the image I just burst into tears of relief, the sonographer probably thought I was crazy!

15 month old dd is upstairs in her cot now. She is perfect just like her brother. Good luck!

Perfectly normal to feel this way. I think most people worry to whether anything will even be there, especially if suffered MC.

@May182 yep, got mine on Friday 7th and starting to feel really sick now and googling chances of things going wrong 🙈 have had 2 scans so far at 6 and 9 weeks and all ok so far but yeah, really worried, seems to be 'normal' but doesn't make me feel any less sick!!

Hi OP - I have mine on Friday (snap @May182 😊) and feeling exactly the same after having an early miscarriage at the start of the year. I’m feeling totally paranoid about having a missed miscarriage or that something else is wrong but trying to reassure myself it’ll all be ok! Good luck OP and to everyone having their scan soon!

Hey OP! I am exactly the same. I'm 9 weeks Monday and have had early scan at 7 weeks where everything was absolutely fine. My first GP app is a week Monday and from there will wait for a date for my 12 week scan. I have been all sorts of nerves too! Googling possibilities of anything happening. Have given up everything I needed to and doing all the right things but it still doesn't take away that worry so you are not alone!
All will be absolutely fine though and we've got this 🙏🏻 stay positive and good luck!

@Princesspeachee Thank you, it’s hard to not let it take over everything isn’t it. I’m trying to convince myself that I’ll relax after a good scan tomorrow but knowing me I probably won’t 😂

@bakewellbride That’s my fear for tomorrow that there won’t be a baby or that the dates won’t match or something like that. I’m just trying to stay as positive as possible!

@firsttimemumtobe24 Thank you. I have everything crossed for you. That’s brilliant that your 7 week scan went well. Have you been given a date for your 12 week scan yet? It’s so lovely to know I’m not the only one feeling this way.

@CR7 I’ve heard of the phrase ‘scanxiety’ before but now think it’s the best thing ever! I’ll be using it from now on haha! Thank you :)

Thanks for asking - all went smoothly thank you, so relieved and it’s feeling much more real now! Hope yours did too 😊

@May182 mine went fine, apart from baby being a monkey so couldn't get the NT measurement, so couldn't have the full combined testing! So now have to go get the quad test instead so that's a bit of a stress even tho she said the NT was normal and all was ok but don't get all the testing till later now and so now I'm worrying about that, it doesn't end 😂

I’ve got my 7 week scan on Thursday (reassurance scan for recurrent miscarriages) and I am SO nervous and it feels like time is going SO slowly

I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. I’m so close to booking a private scan for tomorrow just to get it over with 😅

Not yet. I had my first midwife app on Thursday so it all seemed a bit more real getting my 'blue notes' she's sent the referral for the scan date so just waiting on that. Until then I too will be a bag of nerves 😅

Just wanted to update that today’s scan was really positive. I can’t believe it! :) I’m even measuring a couple of days ahead of what I thought so finally feeling relaxed now.

Seems very normal. I’m 7, nearly 8 weeks and have told quite a few people (parents, close friends). For me it’s really helped to talk about this period of waiting before the scan. If anything went wrong I’d want to talk to them about it
