Baby refusing to move!

not asking for medical advice

I’m trying so hard to stay positive but been at the hospital for hours now and have been admitted, possibly for overnight stay as baby is just not moving. Have had CTG which was fine and due to go for a scan.

I am torn between being horrendously worried and feeling like a huge drama queen for making such a fuss. I’ve never been in hospital before and it all feels like I should be feeling more ill somehow (I feel totally fine!!!).

I just wish she would move and assure me she is ok, especially as so far it’s not been possible to find a reason why she’s stopped. With me being 31 weeks it’s really odd not feeling her.

Drink something really cold, and have something sweet.

allgoodthings84 · 30/06/2023 15:12

If the ctg is fine and the scan ends up all being ok then they will likely let you go home. Same thing happened to me at 29 weeks. She wouldn’t move and didn’t move on the CTG either so they scanned me and then put me back in CTG and that one was ok so they let me go home.

I was in again this morning at 32 weeks and they said baby can still get in a position where we can’t feel them move for awhile but always to get checked. I’m now waiting on another growth scan but my CTG was fine so I’ll be going home after the scan

Do not feel like a drama queen. You would kick yourself (and the rest) if there was a problem and you didn’t do anything for fear of wasting people’s time.

Al991 · 30/06/2023 16:57

Hi all, just been told by doctor they want to keep me in overnight ☹️ said if I left it would be against medical advice and I can’t do that when I’m responsible for my baby’s health, so guess I’m in this for the long haul!

Still can’t help but worry - CTG mixed, not great, but scan fine. How horrible!

Are they giving you any explanations?

I’m sorry you’re going through something so worrying. But you’ve done the right thing. You’re not ignoring it, you’ve gone for help.

Al991 · 30/06/2023 18:19

I don’t think there are any to give. They’ve done their best to do all the checks but can’t find anything. Said they want to keep me here in case something happens, I’m guessing in case I start bleeding or something.

How many weeks are you?

pregnancyrollercoaster · 30/06/2023 18:36

OP I had a recent stay due to reduced movements and query early labour when I was 31 weeks. I did have 🩸 and pain with mine though. I'm home and on twice weekly CTG / scan / consultant check ins with the clear message if something doesn't feel right to call Triage. I know it's frustrating to be in hospital when you're feeling 'fine', you aren't being a drama llama 💜

Skinthin · 30/06/2023 20:05

sending love OP, you’ve done absolutely the right thing xx

Al991 · 30/06/2023 20:31

Thanks all. I am 31 weeks - feels so close yet so far. Just wish she would move as I don’t like having the constant worry. Hopefully she gets back to it eventually and then I can get on with feeling more positive.

They tell me if baby isn’t moving then I am to go in every day! You’re not being over dramatic. My mum lost her first baby at term because they didn’t encourage going in for reduced movement back then. It could have been prevented as was a placenta issue. It is always worth going in to be checked if something doesn’t feel right. You’re the only one who can feel what your baby is/isn’t doing and you’re doing the right thing. Definitely stay in if they are advising you to stay in.

snuffles123 · 30/06/2023 22:38

Out of interest I'd love to see a pic of the CTG trace if you're willing? Obviously don't include any of your personal details on it.

Princesspeachee · 01/07/2023 10:43

Hope you managed to get some sleep last night @Al991 have been thinking about you. Fingers crossed little one starts wriggling again soon x

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 01/07/2023 14:01

Hope you're both ok?

Isolationendurance · 01/07/2023 14:03

Thinking of you today x

Al991 · 01/07/2023 19:17

Hi all, movements have increased quite a bit and so I made the decision to go home rather than stay on at the hospital for another night. There was still nothing coming up that could show what the cause was… I am now feeling v worried so just monitoring movements.

Insheerpanic · 01/07/2023 19:20

Is baby now moving normally again?

Al991 · 01/07/2023 20:00

She was, now not so sure. Just had a crying fit and now considering ringing triage. This is horrible…

sureigot20 · 01/07/2023 20:08

Don't consider it, do it now!

Always go on your intuition.

I hope all is ok x

Princesspeachee · 01/07/2023 20:22

Oh sweetheart big hugs, ring them please.
You're better off there right now although I know there's nothing like your own home but this amount of worrying won't do you any good.
When you go back in I would speak to them and ask for a solid plan of whay they are going to do what they are looking for etc.
Thinking if you

Insheerpanic · 01/07/2023 21:02

Please ring them and go back in x

Al991 · 01/07/2023 21:05

I am going back in. I shouldn’t have left really they sort of gave me the choice but I hate hospitals. Just so worried. At least I’m going to best place.

Absolutely the best thing to stay in hospital when you can.

Decrease in movements and captured in the right time can have much better outcomes than not being monitored.

Hope it works out OK.

pregnancyrollercoaster · 02/07/2023 00:54

OP thinking of you and hope you are both ok 💜 I was back at triage last night for RFM hadn't felt baby move since 11am 😓 but DH could feel flutterings and the MW kept telling me that I'm not a pest they would rather see me than have me sat at home worrying 💜

Al991 · 02/07/2023 01:35

Hi all you have been so kind on this thread. Because of the long term-ness of the RFM and the fact that keeping someone in hospital indefinitely is pretty sucky, I’ve been offered daily outpatients til movements return. Im very lucky to have been offered this. Hoping I won’t need it for long. Had a much better Ctg this time too so still weepy but more positive.
