Braxton hicks - what’s normal?

im 35 weeks and been a little stressed lately. I began having braxton hicks a few days ago which were painless tightenings once a day. Today I’ve have them a few times this evening and they feel like period pains. Not painful but dull and hard to miss. my bump isn’t tight like a real contraction

can braxton hicks be like this or would you assume it’s early contractions?
i didn’t have noticeable braxton hicks in my last pregnancy so I have nothing to compare to if someone can confirm how their’s felt and how regular you had them please

It’s a while ago now (my youngest is 7), but in my second pregnancy I had them every evening from really early, about 34 weeks if I remember correctly. Not painless but not painful either, and fairly regular. She was born at 40+4 so it wasn’t a sign of anything. Only had them for a week or so before birth first time around, but again would ramp up in the evening then fizzle out.

Yes my braxton hicks were like cramps in my second pregnancy. Like you, I didn't really have them with my first so had nothing to compare it to.
They did seem to ease when I changed position though so that's how kind of how I knew that it was braxton hicks. Also got them quite a bit when I'd been on my feet all day at work and not drank enough right at the end before I went on mat leave. Could well be that but if you are concerned, the pains have a regular pattern to them or any worries about baby's movements etc give your maternity triage number a call for advice. All the best!
